Excellent movie. Good action with some cute comedy thrown in, but not too much violence either. Highly recommend.

So I'm a Trekker. Not a Trekkie, you understand. I like both the original series and the various incarnations that followed, and I liked the JJ Abrams reboot movie. It was a terrible idea done very well.
This has all the benefits of a cracking cast and top budget effects, but I really wish they hadn't warmed over the Khan storyline. The story is presented well and worked well with the character flaws of the main crew, but something could have been done that didn't trample on the original series so much. No disrespect intended to Benedict Cumberbatch who has probably cornered the market on intergalactic villains.

Sadly, I have just watched this for the sixth time. I am such a Star Trek geek. I am now also going to follow some of these actors who seem to both carry the tone of the originals without the most annoying characteristics and make the characters their own creations. I am so seldom impressed with today's actors that this movie is now a favorite.

J. J. Abrams does it again in this old-fashioned big-screen popcorn movie destined to be one of the best this summer has to offer! This time around the reinvented crew of the USS Enterprise find their loyalties put to the test when they're called upon to enter a restricted military zone in order to capture a dangerous fugitive; a move which not only reveals a darker side of The Federation but one which could spark a catastrophic war with the Klingon Empire as well. Borrowing a few key storylines (and a long list of in-jokes) from both the old series and the original motion pictures, Abrams spins a tall tale with just the right blend of humour and audacity to keep you smiling even as you grip the sides of your seat. The script is appropriately grandiose, the action sequences breathtaking, and the excessively adorable cast manage to deepen that special chemistry they began in the first installment. And stuff blowing up never looked so cool in IMAX 3D! The film’s closing credits, a loving homage to Alexander Courage’s original score, is sure to bring a tear to the eyes of diehard trekkers everywhere.

Saw it in a theater. It was even better the second time around, as a DVD !

Hammy acting, the usual American Hero Saves the Day cliches, endless battle scenes, and a complete lack of any style. Scifi shovelware.

Good movie. I am always impressed with the how the actors fit their characters so well. One major thing I would have liked to have seen was more exploration of planets... too much crashing into earth's skyscrapers. If there is a third movie, I how that the director/producer keeps that in mind. I also agree that I was disappointed that there was no bonus features, there were some on the first DVD.

I first saw this one when it was in the Theaters, but I watched it again. The only thing I noticed is that there were no "Bonus Features" on this Dvd version of it and I had thought that if there were it would have added to my enjoyment. Oh well.
