Pleasantly surprised ! This movie was well written and capably acted by Elizabeth Banks & Chris Pine. The story was a little like Raninman (but also very different) and it was interesting to watch it unfold. Not sure where the Banks character's humiliation came from at the end, but otherwise a feel good movie. Young actor who porttrayed Banks' son was awesome and Michelle Pfieffer was effective as Pine's mother.

a very difficult topic about people protecting the ones they love, for all sorts of reasons. when the fog clears, perhaps it would have been better to be forthright in the first place. based on a true story. I was quite interested in Chris Pine stepping out of his usual role and trying something a little different. I was not disappointed. a troubled 30 something finally confronting his ghosts and accepting the reality of his relationship with his father, who has passed away. Good thoughtful movie. Good movie there are flaws in the characters and you can love them or hate them at different times.

Semi-sweet film, I'm not the only one who found some of the characters annoying, but I feel the ending made up for this. Families are so complicated.

You might like it or not. All depends on how you see yourself or others in your family. Some people are like this.

LOVED it. An unexpected pleasure of a film. Don't expect to like or even understand all the characters, but be prepared to be interested. Life takes on texture and depth when people try to see through others' eyes. So do films. This is a modern story about making a living and having a family....or not.

Overall, I like the idea of this movie, but the way it was portrayed was a little off. First off, I'm not sure why so much detail was shared about Sam's career, as that issue was never resolved. Secondly, there was a really strange sexual undertone between Sam and his sister. Also, the sister was really irritating when she found out that Sam was her brother.

People Like Us was inspired by true events and is completely plausible. A father of two children (a son and a daughter) with different mothers was forced to choose one family over the other. Upon his death the father had saved $150,000 with written instructions for his son to give the money to the daughter that the father had abandoned. Previously unknown to each other the movie then focuses on the son meeting his step sister and nephew. Although the characters are not particularly likeable the movie has a heartwarming and enjoyable ending.

The ending made me cry, the rest was iffy, did not like that she didn't know who he was, didn't like his mom, or his girlfriend, or him really either.

I really liked this movie. I thought the characters were typical and their actions highly predictable but the there is something near the end that changes this movie around for me. I won't easily forget it and that's why I liked it.
