If any book truly deserved to be pink and covered in glitter, Freak Show by James St. James is that book. The fabulous Billy Bloom, drag queen extraordinaire, is sent to live with his father in rural Florida. Unfortunately for Billy, he ends up in a private school with rich kids who wear nothing but polos in pastel colors, khakis, and have names like "Biff" & "Muffy." Billy won't let that stop him from being the most fabulous person at school, though. The wild ride that follows – including a football player crush, a secret society of outcasts, a creepy stalker, & a highly publicized Homecoming Queen competition – will keep equally fabulous people laughing and happy through the whole book. It'll also supply some wicked awesome Halloween costume ideas.

Great book! Funny, sad, exciting. It makes you fall in love with the main character, Billy. The author does an amazing job of describing the scenery and characters wardrobe!

'Freak Show' is written in one of the best voices I've ever read. You feel like Billy is talking to you the whole time, gesturing wildly with his hands and by the end of the book you're best friends. An unusual choice for a main character, Billy is engaging, honest, positive even when he's down, funny, and downright memorable. Fantastic book times ten!!

I REALLY loved this book! The writing style is really unique and chillaxed. For some it might be hard to get used to, but for me I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. I thought the book was HILARIOUS and there are AT LEAST 15 quotable moments in it. Dang, I could quote the whole book, it was that great. So yeah, I definitely recommend it.

"And then, after each person in the class had expressed, for the record, their level of surprise that I was a fag, then speculated on the enormity of my fagginess, they all agreed to agree to a general consensus, saying that I WAS, in effect, the biggest fag that any of them had ever seen before, and FURTHERMORE, it was to be collectively agreed upon that I was probably the biggest faggot they WOULD LIKELY EVER see. And so it was unanimous.
And lo, this brought them great joy...
