With the passing Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys, I reminded of how much an influence the Beasties were on my life. Everyone I knew in the 80s were into hair metal but I loved hip-hop and Run -DMC and the Beastie Boys. As a small town, white girl they helped bring New York City to life for me and into my bedroom. I still laugh at the thought of my parent's reaction when played "Licensed to Ill" at full blast.
