Item Details

In her latest novel, Daddy’s Gone A Hunting, Mary Higgins Clark, the beloved “Queen of Suspense,” exposes a dark secret from a family’s past that threatens the lives of sisters Kate and Hannah Connelly when the family-owned furniture firm explodes into flames in the middle of the night, leveling the buildings to the ground, including a museum where priceless antiques have been on permanent display for years.

The ashes reveal a startling and grisly discovery and provoke a host of suspicions and questions. Was the explosion deliberately set? What was Kate—a CPA for one of the biggest accounting firms in the country—doing in the museum when it burst into flames? Why was Gus, a retired and disgruntled craftsman, with her at that time of night? What if someone isn’t who he claims to be?

Now Gus is dead, and Kate lies in the hospital in a coma, so neither can tell what drew them there or what the tragedy may have to do with the hunt for a young woman missing for many years. Nor can they warn that somebody may be covering his tracks, willing to kill to save himself.

In a novel of dazzling suspense and excitement, Mary Higgins Clark once again demonstrates the mastery of her craft that has made her books international bestsellers for years. She presents the reader with a perplexing mystery, a puzzling question of identity, and a fascinating cast of characters—one of whom may just be a ruthless killer...

An OK read but I found my mind drifting as I read. Many characters and they do eventually come together for a reason but overall I could have skipped reading this one. Just didn't hold enough interest for me.

This is a fun, easy read about a troubled family. I always love Mary Higgins Clark books and this one did not disappoint!

I couldn't put this book down, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

"You're not my Daddy!" a simple statement from a comatose patient unlocks the key to this suspense thriller. Mary Higgins Clark brings the readers mind to stretch their imagination until the final stretch. Love this author!!!! She's unbeatable in her style. An exercise of the mind!!!

With this latest winter storm this was a great book to enjoy while being confined at home!. Like others I did figure out quite early who the killer was, that was a surprise for her books. But I liked the story and the characters and how she always ties all the small stories together at the end.

I normally love mary higgins clark.I was very disappointed in this book however. I knew halfway through the book who the killer was. I looked the coules in the book and the rest was horrible.

The storyline was okay - typical for Clark. Disappointing to realize that either Clark's writing style has gone downhill or I was not perceptive enough before to realize how much I don't care for it. Maybe it's because there are other authors out there that have captivated me who write so well.

Mary Higgins Clark's books are always good for a quick read and this one is no exception. The plot is good although I found it pretty easy to figure out who the bad guy was. Also thought the ending tied up everything a little too neatly.

Enjoyed this book, just like all her books! Great plot and the twist at the end is amazing. Easy read because it's so face paced. Highly recommend!

Hannah & Kate have grown up to be two happy, successful sisters, until the family's business goes up in flames. Their father, Doug, seems more concerned about getting the insurance money than the fact that Kate was in the building.
