This movie is pretty gritty and I can understand why it might make some people uncomfortable. It is an astounding story and worth watching just for the acting of McConaughey and Jared Leto. Jared Leto was truly astonishing as Rayon-for a while I was not really sure who was playing that part and if the person was male or female.

One of the better new releases of late. Knowing it was based on a true story just adds authenticity to M.M.'s performance. Good to see the trend of making bio's become more mainstream.

losing weight wins the academy award. christian bale the fighter.it used to be when a actor played someone who is mentally retarded. movie starts out great but it starts to drag.. no pun intended.... what about the last 20 shitty movies they acted in. vin diesel becomes robert de niro overnight . the drag gimmick.. tootsie..crying game.... think about it..... tom hanks used this gimmick to win two years in a row.. philly . dying from hiv. forrest gump.slow.. never won again.. ...

It is a very humbling experience to understand how a person encounters the HIV and AIDS in a cowboy city like Dallas where the disease wasn't well comprehended by the society (even now). The character of Matthew McConaughey was a fighter spirit but also a very cunning businessman who manipulated the suffering of other. In his situation, that's probably a survivor mode because he couldn't go back to his old job. It seems like an evil act but also a kind gesture that kept many men from dying. Confusing? Yeah, that's life. As an actor, he made a very convincing dying man and deserved the Oscar award. Jared Leto plays a very lovely character who made us laugh and tears at the same time .... not many actors are able to do that.

Excellent movie. Although McConaughey is disgusting to look at at times, his performance is excellent. Ditto for Leto. Enjoy!

Remarkable film with interesting yet profound characters. It's tags at you and some moments were hard to watch, but I enjoyed the film. The accolades received were well-deserved!

Pretty good story and the acting was good. I thought that Jared Leto's acting was superior to Mathew McConaughey's, but both were good. I ignore the fact that they both lost weight for their roles...losing (or gaining) weight does not make a performance...acting does.

Dallas Buyers Club - Official Int'l Trailer (2013) HD

Matthew McConaughey stars in DALLAS BUYERS CLUB as real-life Texas cowboy Ron Woodroof, whose free-wheeling life was overturned in 1985 when he was diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. These were the early days of the AIDS epidemic, and the U.S. was divided over how to combat the virus. Ron, now shunned and ostracized by many of his old friends, and bereft of government-approved effective medicines, decided to take matters in his own hands, tracking down alternative treatments from all over the world by means both legal and illegal. Bypassing the establishment, the entrepreneurial Woodroof joined forces with an unlikely band of renegades and outcasts - who he once would have shunned - and established a hugely successful "buyers' club." Their shared struggle for dignity and acceptance is a uniquely American story of the transformative power of resilience. Director: Jean-Marc Vallée Writers: Craig Borten, Melisa Wallack Stars: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto
