A dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy, Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for him to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. With time running out and a deadly storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

I never saw any of the others from this series. But I just loved this one. I am not a fan of Vin Diesel at all. But this is excellent. I hope to see more in this series.

First, just let me say I NEED a dingodongo. Now, to the comment. I love _Pitch Black_ and this movie. Brilliant writing, great characters, Diesel at his best action here (he was brilliant in _Find Me Guilty_ but for brains not brawn). I am also a great fan of movies and books that feature a blue-eyed devil. Although I've watched the movie six times, I still haven't seen him drive the knife into his leg because I close my eyes. One of the things Twohy is so good at getting me to do! The only disappointment for me was how closely the monsters resembled those in _Pitch Black_; however, since all planets seem to be populated with humanoids, I guess it is okay. :-)

I have no solid reason for giving 'Reddick' a 5-star rating except that hanging off the edge of my bed, clutching my pillow, (the dog wanted nothing to do with me and my squealing,) cycling back and forth in the film to pick-up fine points, provided that this film is what it promised to be, Action. I am pleased to be excited by a film again.

Riddick is the return of one of my favorite characters in film. While the first film introduced Riddick as a classic anti-hero, he has now become the hero who is smarter than everyone else in the room. I'm beginning to wonder how he ever got the reputation of a merciless killer when he only ever kills those who threaten him but they only threaten him because he's supposedly a merciless killer.

The storyline of this film takes it cues from Pitch Black but does reference Chronicles as well. If you enjoyed Pitch Black, you shouldn't be disappointed here though the film is essentially Pitch Black revamped.

Vin Diesel is charming and, as always, surrounds himself with a great cast. Jordi Molia, Matt Nable, and Katee Sackhoff particularly stand out. (Unfortunately, Karl Urban's role is a only few minutes here.)

The film is entertaining and action packed but feels like more of a rehash of previous covered ground. Here's hoping it is merely a transition film to an even more entertaining fourth movie with more answers and more Karl.

''Riddick'' is doing way too much on overkill at this point aka just another totally unnecessary installment of an extremely overrated, but MEDIOCRE franchise overall that should have never made it past the MEDIOCRE 1st film period. Some of the very last words from Vin Diesel's character definitely tells me that he's going to make another totally unnecessary installment of this franchise, but this franchise needs a lethal HEAD SHOT aka to DIE right now forever period. To all of you HARDCORE fans of this series,DO YOU REALLY WANT ANOTHER EPIC LIVE ACTION VIDEO GAME THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE A MOVIE THAT YOU CAN'T PLAY INTERACTIVELY????????????????????????????????????????????

Entertaining. I'm not much of a Sci-Fi fan, but felt this was decent. I liked the special effects. The story was common, but well played out by the cast and Vin Diesel. Good for a first time viewing. Watching the movie multiple times will tell if it really was good, but I didn't like it enough to borrow it more than once. However, if it comes up on cable, I would watch it again.

Riddick is placed in such a menacing environment this time, it is almost ridiculous. I suppose he's always been up against incredible obstacles and his super-cool response provides his charm; but, I was a little bored this time.

Instead of arriving on planet Furya, Riddick was left on [not Furya] to fend for himself amongst native predators like water demons and packs of [prime-evil] jackals. Super animation, action packed, decent sci-fi story and fast paced.

From IMDb (lots of quotes published):
Riddick: Don't know how many times I've been crossed off the list and left for dead. Guess when it first happens the day you were born, you're gonna lose count. So this, this ain't nothing new.

Riddick: There are bad days, and then there are legendary bad days. This was shaping up to be one of those. Whole damn planet wanted a piece of me. Can't stay in the open. Can't risk another attack. It's always the punch you don't see coming that puts you down. But why didn't I see it? But why didn't I see it? Of course they were gonna try and kill me. Death is what they do for a living. So the question ain't "What happened?" The question is "What happened to me?"
