A lot better than most recent thrillers or apocalyptic themed movies. The special effects are good, and much of the plot and characterization seems realistic, in contrast to most others in this genre.

This allegory reflecting our present congressional impotence regarding serious immigration issues portrays deserved and timely sympathetic concerns for the undocumented. The actors and script were predictable but there were random moments of brilliance to warrant continued viewing. Spoilers follow: Being aged enough to actually have known people who were tattooed by the Nazi nightmares of WWII, old-toto could fully appreciate the modern tattoo techniques applied and implemented in this future world to identify and control people. The Great Southern Wall of America (How well is that multi-billion dollar extravaganza working for us?) mirrors the intent of Elysium. Old_Toto also knows of Mexican field workers with serious injuries or illnesses carried north by their coworkers beyond the border and left knowing that they would receive excellent and humane care at the Yuma Regional Medical Center before being released back to the Border Patrol.

Age-old social, political and economic issues are given a futuristic treatment in “Elysium”. A good cast and impressive cinematography make this film worth watching.

This turned out to be much better than i expected it to be overall period.Jodie Foster's performance in this movie is the best i have ever seen from her so far period.Foster's performance is a perfect example showing the political zombies in real life how the selected, not elected, real life politicians and how our elite slave masters really feel about the peasants in real life period. Our selected, not elected illegal alien USA president,Congress, and locally selected, not elected politicians are exactly like the wealthy and Jodie Foster's characters in this movie literally period.I probably would have given this 5 stars if the writer of this film would have explicitly told me how and why the planet Earth in this movie is overpopulated and polluted according to it's opinion. Our elite slave masters are LYING to us peasants about how we are overpopulating and polluting the Earth everyday, making excuses for depopulating us worldwide period.POLITICS OWNS US,BUT YOU DON'T HEAR ME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neill Blomkamp may not be George Lucas or James Cameron but he is heading in that direction. He shows a possible version of the future loaded with haves and have nots. Not everyone is going to be wearing designer latex jumpsuits. Even in the future most of the population will be hating The Man.
Another fine effort. Hope he does a District 9 movie pt. 2.

Okay movie. Not believable but somewhat entertaining. Matt Damon was better in the Bourne Trilogy.

Well done albeit brutal and violent but kudos to the movie makers for seeing to it that not everyone makes it out alive.

Well. Neill Blomkamp films certainly provide plenty of hot topics for discussion and food for thought. I have the vague impression that Elysium didn't receive a positive reception, but I found this film to be exciting and dynamic once it got to rolling along. Matt Damon is generally good in anything he stars in, and that's true here. There's plenty of action, and I particularly liked the whole super-
wealthy haves (and their pristine space
station) versus the overpopulated and
dirty Earth-bound have nots angle.
Recommended if you liked District 9, by
the same director.

A bit over the top with plot holes aplenty, but still, an entertaining film. The dystopian film deals with class differences in a world where the wealthy live in an orbiting station and everyone else is left on a ruined Earth. Matt Damon finds himself caught up in a race against time. Jodie Foster is icy as a ruthless politician on Elysium. And she employs a mercenary played by an actor who's gleefully chewing the scenery when he's not (proverbially) kicking dogs and stealing lollipops from babies.

Coarse Language: I think it'd be a good idea for the actors to wash their mouths with really strong soap.

Violence: Much like District 9, this movie is extremely heavy in the violence department. Although all the action is very well done and the effects are fantastic. This guy knows how to make a serious action movie.
