McMillan Palgrave

Reporter Jane Ryland is tracking down a candidate’s secret mistress just days before a pivotal Senate election. Detective Jake Brogan is investigating a possible serial killer that may be hunting down Boston’s young women under the city’s bridges. As the body count rises and election looms closer, it becomes clear to Jane and Jake that their cases are connected...and that they may be facing a ruthless killer who will stop at nothing to silence a scandal.

Dirty politics, dirty tricks, and a barrage of final twists, The Other Woman is the first in an explosive new series from Hank Phillipi Ryan. Seduction, betrayal, and murder—it’ll take a lot more than votes to win this election.

Jane Ryland is a former television investigative reporter who refused to give up a source and was subsequently separated from her job in disgrace. Now she has a second chance of sorts, in the much less glamorous job as a newspaper reporter. Her first job revolves around the possible extra-martial relationship of a political candidate. At the same time, Boston police detective, Jake Brogan, is wrestling with the emergence of a possible new serial killer that the media has dubbed the Bridge Killer, which Jane would much rather be covering.

Hank Phillippi Ryan has constructed a straight-forward, but complicated mystery with layer upon layer of revelations in the world of politics. Her heroine is struggling with a major setback in her life and working to put things back together, while trying to keep a safe, professional distance from Jake, for whom she harbors a strong, reciprocated attraction. The Other Woman is the first of a new Jane Ryland series, and has won the Mary Higgins Clark Award.

Very disappointing and difficult to read. Lost interest virtually every time I read 2-3 chapters. No suspense whatsoever. Very tedious

Can't wait to read her earlier books. Ditto 5 star

Really enjoyed this book - first one I have read of hers. A little complex but all comes together as you along with lots to keep you guessing. Definitely a 5 star
