See it if you want to suspend your disbelief beyond all reason and see basic laws of physics entirely disregarded! :) It's not even good as escapism. Such a disappointing turn has the Star Trek voyage taken with these young-uns at the helm. The Star Trek film with the whales (back a year or 25) - that was fun and, compared to this thing, high art! This was even worse than the first go 'round with the new teen crew.

As just a movie, this was pretty fantastic, but for a TOS Trekkie like myself honestly it just didn't do it for me. As a sequel to the 2009 I suppose it was fine but as a remake... just... no. I personally am a big fan of Benedict Cumberbatch but casting him as an originally Indian character was just not a good move, as many people have already mentioned (why am I even commenting a year after this came out?). Anyhow... yeah, as a Trekkie the "my name is Khan" moment was just unexpected in a bad way, and for people who haven't watched the Wrath of Khan, it probably didn't mean anything. I did enjoy Benedict's acting, but over all the casting choice was... not great. Also far too many awkward references to Wrath that just didn't work for me. But as I said above, it was a good movie. Just not a good remake.

I really enjoyed this movie. The acting was pretty darn good. The parts played by the main characters were well-portrayed. The only thing that stopped me from giving this movie 10/10 was for the same reason a lot of prequels suffer from, and that's ultimate suspense. You knew the main characters were not going to get killed off. So, when Kirk was in trouble, towards the end of the movie, you knew it was all going to turn out okay. Still, I did thoroughly enjoy the show, and I'm looking forward the inevitable follow-up.

Overly long but entertaining addition to the re-tooling of the "Star Trek" mythos. Jeremy Pike is re-created as a vital, mobile and motive human being, quite a difference from the beep-boop guy in the box from days of yore and all just to kill him off in the here and now; oh, the humanity! Peter Weller does his best impression of Sterling Hayden in "Dr. Strangelove" but this Percival Bandersnatch guy as Khan? Please, I don't buy him as Sherlock Holmes, he doesn't make me forget Ricardo Montalbon as the original major baddie! At least the Junior Mints were tasty!

Although I am not a big fans of this series, I like this movie very much. It included elements about friendship, leadership and dictotarship which kept me thinking about our real World in business and politics. I like the idea of leaving no one behind during a voyage and how leader should treat the crew like family. In this dog-eat-dog World, I wish we can learn from this fictional event.

One of the things i look forward to while watching movies on my HOMETHEATER is sound!!! Being a science fiction nut, i assumed there would be sounds of explosions, laser, and ships traveling very fast. I was not dissapointed!!! This film will excite most, if not all "audioholics." Beside a good story and very good visual effects, the sound was off the hook!! My friend clapped her hands several times ( instead of yelling at the television) and gave me high fives during some of the scenes where explosions and firing of laser guns and cannons were happening. I enjoyed the scene when Kahn begans firing his guns from the small ship he was flying at the meeting filled with Star Fleet officers. Even the scene when Kahn, unexpectedly, at least for me, begans firing his guns to help the Star Ship crew after they beamed down to the planet to capture him. Both these scenes had me going for the sound and visual effects. It felt like my friend and i were both there in the middle of the action. It's the main reason why i love HOMETHEATER!!!!!! I recomend this movie and it's part of my collection. With that being said, i'm giving this movie 5 stars!!!!! Fantastic visuals, excellent sound, and a very good story. A very large box of Kentucky Fried Chicken wings, breasts, and thighs. Mashed potatoes, corn, biscuts, and Arizona Iced Tea.

I have never read or watched any Star Trek, and I very much enjoyed this movie. I can understand die-hard fans being disappointed that it doesn't align with the original story, but I was satisfied!

Too many unintentionally funny scenes and a bit melodramatic at times but other than that...excellent cast, excellent acting and a visual spectacle.

This is a great sci-fi action movie. Jaw-dropping fx. This relaunch of the Star Trek brand has a near perfect recipe for success. Great cast and excellent writing bent around non-stop action. Slick twist on Wrath of Khan.
