This historical mystery set in the 12th century in Europe. It is the fourth in a series about a medical doctor, Adelia Agular and her Saracen assistant, Mansur. In this novel King Henry II asks Adelia to accompany his10-year-old daughter Joanna to Palermo to marry the King of Sicily. To make sure that Adelia returns to England, Henry II keeps Adelia’s daughter Allie at his court. Deaths begin to happen along the procession to Sicily and many in the group are blaming Adelia and are stating that she is a witch. Adelia finally discovers that Scarry is after her. She killed his lover Wolf in a previous novel. Adelia does not know the true identity of her killer as his face was covered when
she killed Wolf. Lots of period details and twists and turns in the plot. A fast paced and enjoyable historical mystery.

Ariana Franklin's latest Mistress of the Art of Death novel and a great read! Adelia accompanies Princess Joanna on her marriage procession to Sicily. Big climax in Palermo. Can't wait till she writes the next one.

Very enjoyable historical murder mystery - engaging characters and story. The series benefits from the travel element of the story - France and Italy being contrasted with England.
