Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose Trainspotting. Director Danny Boyle thrills in this 'original, daring' tale of a group of young drug addicts wheeling through blue collar Edinburgh that earned an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Trainspotting electrified audiences and critics with its hilariously dark humor, stunning visuals and sharp honest take on both the exhilarating highs, and the terrifying lows, of addiction.

Not a glorification of drugs' excesses, but merely a cinematic roller-coaster thrill ride for the vast majority of us who have dabbled, but never strayed too deep into the world on the other side of the tracks.
In my personal top 3 films of all time.

This is truly a remarkable, benchmark film, spanning the gamut of creativity, and yet still remaining grounded in realism. Director Danny Boyle takes the viewer into some hilarious (and repulsive) depths of counterculture (toilet humor), but he pulls no punches on some harsh realities, either. The cast is excellent, every one. Naturally, worthy of mention are Ewan McGregor, and Kelly Macdonald, but Robert Carlyle really cracked me up as the violent nutjob Begbie. The whole ride is fueled by a killer soundtrack. Amazing flick. FIVE STARS.

This movie is completely off the hook!!! I loved all the characters and the story. Even though it's not "sound freak approval" you should still look at this brilliant movie on your HOMETHEATER!! This movie caught me way off guard while watching it and i bought it for my collection. This film contains all around sound and there's nothing that's outstanding for audio lovers. But the story is very good along with an outstanding bunch of characters. I found it both disturbing and funny. I'm giving this movie 5 stars!!!!!!! A great story and brilliant cast. Four franks on buns with mustard, relish, onions, pickles, and a large glass of water.

Trainspotting is one of my all-time favorite films. It does deal with drug use, but truly the movie is one about the dynamics of friendship and the discontent of modern life (eg, consumerism). Also features a kick-butt soundtrack, and this is the movie that put Ewan McGregor and Kelly McDonald on the map.

Never has a film captured so clearly the painful and destructive lifestyle of drug addicts. This movie is so real, well cast, well acted, and so well directed that I have to place it in my top 10. I highly recommend this movie.

"Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing f*cking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, f*cked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?"

Mark "Rent-boy" Renton (voiceover): "Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a f*cking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of f*cking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the f*ck you are on Sunday morning." (cont'd)

Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: I fantasize about a massive pristine convenience. Brilliant gold taps, virginal white marble, a seat carved from ebony, a cistern full of Chanel no.5, and a flunky handing me pieces of raw silk toilet roll. But under the circumstances I'll settle for anywhere.
