As a true movie critic who grew up watching a lot of old movies from the early 1920's right up to now, Taken 2 definitely get a thumb up. Liam Neeson took over where Harrison Ford stop making movies like this. By the way, I'm going to watch Taken 2 again. That's how good this movie is.

This is a 2012 action thriller---the sequel to the 2008 film "Taken." It is much faster-paced and tenser than its predecessor in terms of action and suspense. The starting secen is the Arbanian funeral of the Albanian mobsters killed by Bryan Mills (Neeson) in the prior film. Murad (Šerbedžija), the leader of the gang and father of Marko, vows to capture Bryan, bring him to the graves and avenge their loved ones. Bryan's daughter Kim and her mother Lenore surprise Bryan by joining him in Istanbul, Turkey, where he has just finished a three-day security job. The next day, Lenore and Bryan go out for lunch. Bryan realizes they are being followed. After a chase, the men capture Lenore, forcing Bryan to surrender, but before he does, he calls Kim and warns her. Her would-be abductors shoot another hotel guest and two security guards, but fail to find her and are forced to flee. Bryan wakes with his hands tied to a pole in a dark room. Using a phone that he had hidden in his sock, Bryan calls Kim, instructing her to go to the US Embassy and tell them what happened, but she begs for a chance to help him and her mother. Under Bryan's guidance, Kim opens his suitcase, containing weapons, and throws a grenade onto a deserted rooftop parking lot. Bryan uses the time it takes for the sound of the explosion to reach him to help locate where he is. I think this is impossible in the real world. Miraculously and unbelievably, however, Kim locates her father. Extraordinary is the escaping and car-chasing scene, in which Kim drives a stolen taxi while Bryan shoots Turkish policemen and soldiers in Istanbul. Unbelievably and shockingly Amazing! How could Kim possibly drive the car in such a dangerous situation? Kim hasn't passed the driver's test yet. In the final scene, Kim passes the driver's test with full marks while Bryan watches her anxiously. Indeed, this is a fictional thriller after all.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way. Just another shootem up bangem up move. Very predictable.

Not quite as good as the first Taken, it is still a very solid action movie. What remains the same, and works just as well as the first movie is Liam Neeson's intensity. I would have thought him an unlikey action star, but on the contrary he is one of the best. And they have already set up Taken 3, which I am looking forward to. Action movies are very nearly an exhausted genre, but I still enjoy well made ones even if I usually fast forward on the car chases.

Meh. Not as good as the first one. Predictable, but still entertaining.

Thought I would not like this at all due to it being such a rehash of the first movie. Although it doesn't capture the lighting in a bottle of the original, it is still a good action thriller. Looks great. Well acted and choreographed. Entertained me but I hope there is no Taken 3.

The first one was definitely better but which movie's sequel ever lives up to its original? If Marco from Tropaya's father would have just accepted that his son was a menace to society who got what was coming to him, this film would have been twenty to thirty minutes shorter and better. Like father, like son. Oh and the makers of the series need to give it a rest, don't make part 3 but if you must (because I know the first two made a killing at the box office) they'd better make sure the women are well-trained and packing heat as well as Neeson.
