written in an informal and chatty style with many (b&w poor quality) illustrations, there is interesting info about maps and mapmaking on every page

A darn good read Takes one from a stick scratching in the sand to show where hunting might be good, right down to the present. Easy read. Some humor which is always apt. Many bits of information----such as how the "Lighthouse" Stevenson, related to Robert Louis, named a number of islands off the coast of Scotland. Garfield's Just My Type is just as good a read
