Did you know that the Library has TV Series available for checkout on DVD? New shows including Game of Thrones, Doc Martin, Homeland, Call the Midwife, Orphan Black, The Newsroom, Breaking Bad, Flashpoint, New Girl, Girls, Sherlock, The Vampire Diaries, Downton Abbey, Modern Family, Hot In Cleveland, Orange is the New Black, Vera, The Big C, Castle, New Tricks and more are on our shelves under the new category, DVD Television. What have we been watching? If you liked The Office or Seinfeld you will probably enjoy the good-hearted nature of the comedy in New Girl. Quirky characters and plots, the lead star and new girl, Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, is sure to win your heart. I recently picked up The Newsroom and was swept up by the fast-paced dialogue and drama. Another hit HBO series, directed by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network), and starring Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer. Orphan Black is a fast-moving thriller set in Toronto, featuring one fantastic actress playing 6 roles. If you like British-style grittiness, scientific shenanigans, and edge-of-your-seat viewing this edgy drama may be your thing.

Seriously one of my top favorites. I BURST OUT LAUGHING. ALL THE TIME. Jess, Nick, Winston, And Schmidt are the best group of freinds ever. and I love that Jess is from Portland! :)

Loving it and only half way through the first season! It's light and funny and finally something my boyfriend and I can both enjoy! If you liked the Office or Seinfeld this is a show for you.

One of my top two favourite (current) tv comedies. Perhaps a bit overacted for supposed 30 year-old characters, but its fairly consistent big laughs make up for its arch-types and its "Family-Matters-type" endings.

When this show came on the air, I saw the previews for the pilot and really didn't think it would be something I was interested in. When it came into the library I figured I'd give it a shot, and found - it is absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud several times during every episode and ended up watching the whole season in 2 days. Fantastic comedy, light but predictable. A fun show with a great cast for sure.

A very funny new comedy. Schmitt has the best lines, but the entire cast has pretty good comedic timing. The stories are varied and fun. Great dialogue and characters. Lacks any sort of dramatic angle. The situations are always overacted. Doesn't really speak on a true-to-life level. Still funny.
