This is a 2012 American comedy film directed by Colin Trevorrow.
The story is inspired by a 1997 Backwoods Home Magazine classified ad written as a joke filler by Backwoods employee John Silveira
The AD asks for someone to accompany him in time travel.
This is supposed to be a comedy, but it isn't funny at all.
It looks rather like a serious SF movie.
I really wants to see the sequel of this film.
The back-to-the-past scene looks so real and convincing that I really wonder what will happen to the two time travellers.

We are blessed that clever and unique films like this are even made and distributed. Good story and superb characters.

I remember in the 90's when the ad was posted in the stranger. We had it hanging on the wall at work. What a great way to build such a wonderful heart warming (in an indi way, not a cheesy way) film. HIGHLY ENJOYED and recommended... (i'm lookin at you Library_man!!! :) )

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie and had no difficulty feeling there with all of the actors. The movie was fast-paced and suspenseful. I really enjoyed the personal drama -- Having liked and loved a few weirdos myself, I enjoyed the reminiscing.

i liked this movie. it isn't so much about traveling back in time, as it is about 2 odd balls finding each other and falling in love slowly. and in the end they travel in time

A surprisingly delightful little film.

This movie is a good choice if you want to laugh, nice indie alternative film though. Aubrey Plaza is basically an intern trying to make a name for herself and stumbles across an ad in a local newspaper.

A nice little movie with some good laughs. Acting is pretty good for a bunch of no-names and overall the movie is well done for a low budget movie.

I was not impressed with this movie at all. The whole concept is ridiculous - that it would be great to go back in time and prevent the deaths of people who were important to you but - be careful! Don't mess with the time/space continuum - promise! I don't know who the female lead was, but she was so underwhelming that I probably wouldn't recognize her if I saw her in another movie. Bleh.

Amazing fun and creative film! This is so well written and well acted for a low budget movie. The premise is amusing and based on a true event. So out of the ordinary. If you like something a little different this is for you.

Safety Not Guaranteed is about three hungry magazine writers (including the brilliant Aubrey Plaza from Parks and Rec and Jake Johnson from New Girl) who, after joking around about a funky personal ad that reads “Wanted: Someone to go back in time with me… Safety not guaranteed” decide to make the seeker the subject of their next great story. Mark Duplass plays the charmingly paranoid time traveler who might just be saner than the rest of us.
