Scientific thriller about a rogue satellite that falls in small town and brings with an entity that destroys the inhabitants of the town. A team of scientists is immobilized to try find what and how this 'bug' can be rendered harmless and builds an underground lab to handle such a problem. The question is : how do they keep the capule from contaminating the rest of the facility before all of mankind is killed. Much of the book is scientific using scientific jargon from computer printouts. Little dialogue. All in all worth your while because of the writer.

I enjoyed the book. I have not seen the movie (yet). I was fascinated until he spent half of the book just inside the lab, and then the last handful of pages undoing all the excitement and suspense at the very end.

drama (sci-non-fi) pretty cool stuff and for the time, out of this world. Easy to see where "Star Trek" gets some of it's idea's. Very scientific, very scary, very real.

Andromeda Strain
by Michael Crichton c - 2008 Reprint! ---- Mystery/Thriller/Sci-fi ---- The Book is excellent, the Movie however is not. Read the Book! ---- A space module/ type of craft that is made to collect possable free floating Bio-Organisms, does the job well. ---- Then returns to Earth in the wrong place and civilians fiddle with the craft and release what has been collected. ---- A Baby and a Wino survive. ---- Why? ---- Enjoy ! ---- RichardPaul

Great book - great movie. Still holds up quite well after forty years. Be warned - this book is a techno-thriller and moves at a much slower pace than Jurassic Park or some of Michael Crichton's other novels.
