A too carefree bird, and a too cautious squirrel go on a road trip to avoid the winter, and the cat. The style the artist uses is very comedic, but there are some serious lessons to be learned. People are different, and by being friends, some of their qualities will rub off on you. Also, that it is better to have friends and be on an adventure, than to be holed up and alone.

Easygoing and upbeat, Bird lives on the spur of the moment. Squirrel, on the other hand, is fearful, fretful, and hates to be without his toothbrush. But these unlikely companions will have to work together if they want to escape the villainous Cat and survive their trip south for the winter. Light and funny, the text is ideal for beginning readers, while kids who aren't ready to read just yet can appreciate the eye-popping colours and goofy visual details (like Squirrel's acorn helmet and Bird's tiny aviator goggles).
