Exactly what I expected from a movie produced by Joss Whedon, king of the nerds.
It was okay, very poorly done and the concept was weird. Like they tried to do something different but failed at it. I give it a 1 star for at least having cool effects.
I understand that THE CABIN IN THE WOODS is a satire, but I couldn't honestly say that I really understood the humour. It just fell flat for me. Other people loved it, but it felt dopey and half-hearted to me. It lost all control as it neared the end and it blatantly ripped off season 4 (or is it 5?) of BUFFY (but am I surprised with that, considering Whedon's tendency to use the same tropes continuously? Uh, no.). I've loved my fair share of satires, but this popcorn flick is not one of them. It just idles and backslides for me. For something more fun and entertaining, and, most importantly, better written, I would recommend TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL.
LOVED this movie you walk in thinking going to be a typical teens go to cabin teens drink do drugs and die but it wasn't loved the original take on the cabin in the woods genre. could have been a little better but in a sea of remakes at least someone tried something new.
Folks, this is a *satire.* If you don't know what a "satire" is, look it up. The "dumb" parts of the movie are making fun of the horror genre. The "government agents" watching the horror serve as pointed social commentary on YOU, the viewer, who gets enjoyment out of watching blood and gore on film. Apparently a lot of this went straight over people's heads.

Stupid and boring. I turned it off in about 15 minutes.
This movie was not done well at all. This movie was terrible Dumb, boring and stupid. Waste of time waste and of Electrical power. Horrible story line. Poor performance. I fast forwarded all the way.
