Add a CommentPowerfully endearing and engrossing story of survival against harrowing circumstances and from there, a story of true love between two unlikely individuals. I couldn't put it down. I loved it. I am looking forward to a sequel to this book and her next novel.
So ridiculous this book borders on the comical, which is the reason I read it all the way to the end. A farce, but a fun farce to read.
A little bit Castaway, a little bit Blue Lagoon, but not enough believability to get my buy-in. I felt the author was just skimming the surface, never giving me enough description to allow me to sink into the story. But my opinion seems to be in the minority.
enjoyed this one. Easy read..2 nights and done! I like the fact that the author was so convinced that she wanted this book published, she did it herself. She has a sequel comng out in July for this one..those that have read it will know what that's about. She also has another one coming out in Sept COVET...can't wait! Made me realize that I wouldn't make it on an island stranded alone...I don't eat FISH!!! LOL
A fun quick read that will keep you reading until you finish! "Castaway" but with an unlikely couple who end up spending five years on a deserted island. While much of the story is implausible it is engaging as they work together to survive and thrive on the island. If you're looking for something fun to read don't miss On the Island.
Enjoyed the book and didn't want to put it down.
I enjoyed the story. Some of it seemed far fetched but overall it kept me reading!!!!
Just ok
This is "Blue Lagoon" meets "Cougar Town" with a sprinkle of "Gilligan's Island." (but only if Mary-Ann and the Professor had actually gotten naughty) It is chock full of improbabilities but, I have to admit, that I did enjoy reading it. I think the whole "trapped on a deserted Island with a hottie" may be a universal fantasy.
My gosh where do I begin....perhaps with smelling underwear(what?!), invincible tampons that can be submerged in the ocean for 23 days and still be usable (I'll have to give that one a try), shampoo and detergent bottles that last for 2-3 years, the need to shave your legs on a deserted island (because that's what's really important), healing a broken collar bone with Tylenol (killer advertising), dolphins saving human's from a "killer" shark, and finally the ability to heal from a viral disease that's causing you to bleed from every cavity without any medical assistance whatsoever and not passing to another person (maybe the used the Tylenol for this too!). I think my favorite quote from the book was when TJ tells Anna she pukes a lot, well maybe it's because she's ALWAYS drinking wine. If someone told me this book was written from the perspective of two immature 13 year olds, I would believe them. Well two 13 year olds, that apparently like to talk a lot about sex and drinking.
