Grand Central Pub
The second novel in James S.A. Corey's SF New York Times bestselling Expanse series.

We are not alone.

On Ganymede, breadbasket of the outer planets, a Martian marine watches as her platoon is slaughtered by a monstrous supersoldier. On Earth, a high-level politician struggles to prevent interplanetary war from reigniting. And on Venus, an alien protomolecule has overrun the planet, wreaking massive, mysterious changes and threatening to spread out into the solar system.

In the vast wilderness of space, James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante have been keeping the peace for the Outer Planets Alliance. When they agree to help a scientist search war-torn Ganymede for a missing child, the future of humanity rests on whether a single ship can prevent an alien invasion that may have already begun . . .

Caliban's War is a breakneck science fiction adventure following the critically acclaimedLeviathan Wakes.

Baker & Taylor
A sequel to Leviathan Wakes follows an alien monster's attack on the outer-planet territory of Ganymede that triggers instability throughout the solar system, prompting James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante to engage in peacekeeping efforts and search for a missing child. Original.

Builds convincingly on the world created in the first book, "Leviathan", but the switch in format from just two POV characters to four might have been one too many (Holden is still Holden, Bobbie's chapters were OK, Avasarala was awesome, but I didn't really dig Prax, he came across as a way too one dimensional "fly on the wall").

Sorry, but if a novel is going to take 595 pages to tell a story, it better grab me quick and keep me interested. This one did not Didn't finish..

I liked this (loved it really) way more than the first book. I originally said this was more Star Trek than Star Wars, but now I am thinking it's more Firefly than either. The story was better. The action was still top notch. The characters, including new characters, were better. The dialogue worked better for me. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Truly great sci-fi. A fast read, too.

Sequel to Leviathan Wakes. I love this science fiction series. Really fun, and takes me back to a real star wars type of science fiction instead of the 'hard' science fiction that is so prevalent sometimes. Great action, space battles, political intrigue, and cool characters. Also takes place in our solar system which is nice. Can't wait for the 3rd book coming out soon.
