Add a CommentThe Cranes Dance is an absorbing edgy novel of sisterhood and sacrifice amidst the world of professional ballet.
This was a wonderful find. Initially I wasn't sure if I could get through it because the writer writers as though she is talking to us.....can be jarring. But that is a technique the character is using. Kate Crane looks at us as her invisible movie audience. I loved this book because it examine Kate Cranes life as a soloist dancer from her POV and yet there was a lot of showing what was going on around her, as opposed to telling. Kate is dealing with guilt about her sister's nervous breakdown, life in the ballet company and taking a little too many Vicodin. I sense there may be a sequel to this book.
