Game of Thrones
"Set in a world where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime. From the scheming south and the savage eastern lands, to the frozen north and ancient Wall that protects the realm from the mysterious darkness beyond, the powerful families of the Seven Kingdoms are locked in a battle for the Iron Throne. This is a story of duplicity and treachery, nobility and honor, conquest, and triumph. In the Game of Thrones, you either win or you die"--Container.

I loved the book and just finished watching season 1 and so far the DVD is as great as the books, sure it is violent but it seem to be fitting, as it was in those days, in other words no senseless violence, anyway that is my humble opinion!
Acting and screen play are awesome, great scenery, I gave it 5 *...

READ the Books! So much better, and without the nudity and coarse language that concerns so many.

I have to congratulate the producers: a lot of thinking and money went into realizing these books, and it shows: the costumes, sets and decor are magnificent.

Deliberately paced, even ponderous, GoT takes itself VERY seriously; expect lots of sententious declamations. Power through the first episode, where the scenery and sets do all the work and the actors (with a couple of exceptions) are like so many blanks. It really does improve, but let's face it, this is a bleak world.

One of the most entertaining escapist dramas I have ever seen. Finally a series for adults. Great books like Jurassic park were totally ruined for adults when they made that movie for children.

Jc1, have you even read the books? I have yet to see the show (am looking forward to it), but the books are full of profanity, sex and violence. I happened to like them enormously and strongly recommend reading the books, but don't think that HBO is taking an otherwise tame story and spicing it up; these books were extremely crude and violent and not intended for kids or others with a tender disposition.

Lots of sex (rough, animalistic, and also erotic) and full nudity. Even age 18 seems too young. I say age 21 minimum.

It is unfortunate that this series is so much in demand, and you can only check out the DVDs for one week. It's summer, and who wants to sit inside powering through a full season in one week?!? I'd rather go out and find my OWN adventures! I got through 4 episodes of season one, then had to return the DVD. I am now #114 on a list waiting for 17 copies. I guess I'd better cancel my hold for season two. Sigh. ^ _ ^

HBO has found another winning formula in this TV series. Season One is a 5-disc set, providing you with some 10 hours of viewing. Plenty of characters (to the point it could be confusing), strong character development, sex (of all nature) and nudity, plenty of violence and gore (lots of beheading), spectacular scenery and settings, and a very complex and engaging plot all make this series a very entertaining one for the adult audience. So if you have 10 hours to kill, this disc set will do it for you and keep you entertained throughout.

i dont understand where all his hatred for frontal nudity comes from. i mean i could be wrong but u guys are guys right? I understand the sex is not in the book and blah blah blah but for god sakes grow a pair its just tits and ass.
I for one am a fan of the nudity the gore and the violence so dont listen to these nerds, just watch it with both eyes open and enjoy!

Cersei Lannister: You should have taken the realm for yourself. Jaime told me about the day King's Landing fell. He was sitting on the Iron Throne and you made him give it up. All you needed to do was climb those steps yourself. Such a sad mistake.

Eddard Stark: I've made many mistakes in my life, but that wasn't one of them.

Cersei Lannister: Oh but it was. When you play the game of thrones you win, or you die. There is no middle ground.

There are seven kingdoms. The king that rules them all is King Robert Baratheon, but things are not as they seem at King's Landing. While the game of thrones is played subtly in Westeros, a new competitor emerges over the Narrow Sea.
