Summary
Add a SummaryThere are seven kingdoms. The king that rules them all is King Robert Baratheon, but things are not as they seem at King's Landing. While the game of thrones is played subtly in Westeros, a new competitor emerges over the Narrow Sea. What will destroy them: the oncoming attack or the in-fighting and secrets behind the castle walls?

Add a CommentYes, the Game of Thrones may be too violent or sexually explicit for some people. But on the same token, there are people like me, that loves the story plot just too much to care. From the directing to the twists, this series has urged me to begin reading the Song of Fire & Ice( the novel that this t.v. series is based on). I also love the fact that women play a very crucial role in the series, unlike LOR or other mythical fiction tales.
Way too much violence and sex. I can't believe garbage can garner so much ratings.
I confess: When I watched this series the first time, I gave up after the first disc. It's one of the lousiest pilots for a series of its caliber. Then, months later, I tried it again and pushed through that first disc with its drawn-out introduction of characters and establishment of personality and context that would inevitably be essential later. Regardless, after about episode 3, the series got very engaging, and the betrayals and twists started coming at you as the wheels turned. In turn, there are many exciting action sequences and, because it's HBO, an orgiastic serving of sexuality. Each kingdom has its own disposition and each character infuses a bit of themselves into their community. I have to say I really enjoyed this first season and I'm eagerly anticipating watching the second season.
Never thought I would like a TV show like this, but now I'm obsessed with it.
Absolutely mesmerizing, fantastic, wonderful, couldn't stop watching it, episode after episode. I can't wait for Season 2 to come.
This is the best sword & sorcery series ever. A lot of swords, very little sorcery. Grownup fans of the Lord of the Ring series and Conan the Barbarian will certainly enjoy this. It has some of the best medieval fight scenes. Great dialogue, great costumes, great sets, great scenes, and great storyline. This is a tv series that definitely raises standards in quality of production. It certainly tries to stay true to the books. A bit of warning though it has great deal of adult content in it, this is not for the whole family.
Love it! Love the writing love the characters! Could not stop reading! I'm adding this to my collection, alongside The Hobbitt and The Ring! The Clash of Kings is in transit to my library! Must read it before I watch second season!
Absolutely incredible and very true to the books! Very very well done! Almost couldn't stop watching! MORE MORE MORE!! :D
For all those complaining, that the content doesn't meet their idea of "appropriate", next time do a little research, before plopping that blue ray, dvd, CD, etc. into your player. Maybe even read the container notes first, since often enough they do spell out a weird thing called a "rating", which can give one a fair idea of what is about to assault your eyes and/or ears. OR God forbid, even read the book(s) first, since this show is based upon material from other media. Does make me wonder what you all would have made of a medieval society, which this series is set in. What I know of it.. the sex, the violence, and yes even the language would not have been out of place, as much as you find it in the TV show. My guess is that I wouldn't enjoy your "version" of this show, if it was you acting as the producer.
Firstly, get over the "naughty" content. Read the warnings before you stick a DVD in to babysit your kids. Awesome series, one of few that is true to the source material, so much so that someone owes us a book! If you aren't going to read the books (and there are a lot) I beg you to watch the series. Story-telling has not gone away, people! Have fun.
