In my opinion this is the best show on T.V. The writing and acting are rivaled only by United States Of Tara. Before I checkout a DVD or book, I always read the comments about it, just to get the general feel. I get why some people would find this show offensive. The show is of good enough quality, it might even have a larger audience if it wasn't so crude. But that's the way they produced it, so watch or don't as you see fit. I do have to put my two cents worth in, about this realism crap. In what universe is there any realism in this show? Going by the geography, it's not even on this planet. And we don't have Dragons, or necromancers, or magic, or polar undead ghouls. Putting that aside, if it were based on our medieval time, then it's still not realistic. Most of the swear words we use today, weren't even used 100 years ago, never mind 700 years. As for the sex, in our medieval times, they believed a woman had to achieve orgasm to get pregnant. So when a boy was maturing to manhood, he was educated in the art of pleasing women. Only a rapist, or someone who needs to demean women in order to feel like a man, would ever treat a woman like a piece of meat. Pretty progressive, eh? But all these complaints are just about the comments. The show itself,[as a fantasy] is amazing.

This is the best sword & sorcery series ever. A lot of swords, very little sorcery. Grownup fans of the Lord of the Ring series and Conan the Barbarian will certainly enjoy this. It has some of the best medieval fight scenes. Great dialogue, great costumes, great sets, great scenes, and great storyline. This is a tv series that definitely raises standards in quality of production. It certainly tries to stay true to the books. A bit of warning though it has great deal of adult content in it, this is not for the whole family.

Love it! Love the writing love the characters! Could not stop reading! I'm adding this to my collection, alongside The Hobbitt and The Ring! The Clash of Kings is in transit to my library! Must read it before I watch second season!

Breath taking and exciting, held my attention all the way to the cliff hanger. More, is all I can say!

For all those complaining, that the content doesn't meet their idea of "appropriate", next time do a little research, before plopping that blue ray, dvd, CD, etc. into your player. Maybe even read the container notes first, since often enough they do spell out a weird thing called a "rating", which can give one a fair idea of what is about to assault your eyes and/or ears. OR God forbid, even read the book(s) first, since this show is based upon material from other media. Does make me wonder what you all would have made of a medieval society, which this series is set in. What I know of it.. the sex, the violence, and yes even the language would not have been out of place, as much as you find it in the TV show. My guess is that I wouldn't enjoy your "version" of this show, if it was you acting as the producer.

Firstly, get over the "naughty" content. Read the warnings before you stick a DVD in to babysit your kids. Awesome series, one of few that is true to the source material, so much so that someone owes us a book! If you aren't going to read the books (and there are a lot) I beg you to watch the series. Story-telling has not gone away, people! Have fun.

Wow people really complaining about language, violence, sex, and nudity. We are all adults here are we not? It is HBO after all. Maybe you should stick with Disney, Abc family and the hallmark channels. This series is amazing they captured the characters just as I pictured them. I am completely hooked. Love how closely it folllows the books. As for the content it is perfectly fine for not easily offended adults, never children. Censorship takes out the realism and even though this is far from real it doesn't hurt to have some. Grow up already people. This world is far from candy coated. Lowest common denominator lol just because people like some realism really? I would say someone's a little full of themselves.

Is a awesome tv show that`s all i can say.
