Add a CommentOk, usually I don't think of myself as an action movie kind of soul, but I knew I wanted to see this as soon as I saw the preview, and I wasn't let down. The action sequences, already inventive (the chase scene through the dust storm was especially well-done) are made even more amazing by the knowledge that Mr. Tom Cruise does his own stunts. I'm assuming they didn't just let him loose on the side of a skyscraper without some sort of unseen rigging, but even so... very fun to watch. A fast story, definitely to be watched on the biggest screen you can. Good humor by Simon Pegg thrown in from time to time, a very likeable cast with all their own backstories, and even a hint or two of romance. Like many others have commented before me, whatever Tom Cruise's personal life may be, he's still an impressive actor. I'm just going to go ahead and add here that he's still quite handsome, as well.
very good
It's entertainment, no more no less, but it certainly does entertain. Yes, I'd like more story, more suspense, more depth. I'll have to find all that elsewhere. We know Tom Cruise won't plunge to his death (in a completed and released movie) from that 160-story building; but it is fun to watch, knowing that Cruise does his own stunts. More, please.
Casting was good, Happy to see other parts of the globe, especially since they are way out of my price range, but the story line? There was no suspense, no mystery, great stunts but hardly any flash. I miss the original IMF.
Just a very well written, acted, and directed action movie with some amazing chase, fight, and spy scenes. Certainly you have to suspend your disbelief in some of the crazy gadgets and such (like having that train car available) but that's most of the fun for the MI movies. Great cast too. Good mix of humor and action and ties well into the other movies but is still great as a stand alone. Can't wait for another one now!
Tom Cruise is getting a little long in the tooth for this kind of foolishness.
Okay, so Tom Cruise has a bad reputation as being some radical Church of Scientology nutjob. So knowing that, why do some negative commenters who insult him ("boring", "demented") watch his movies? I mean, seriously, lol, if you don't like the man, why? I don't like the Kardashian creatures, so, --duh-- I. Don't. Watch. Them. WHATEVER his personal beliefs are, I don't care. I give credit where credit is due. He's a hell of an entertainer, as is courageously displayed here, in the sequence where Ethan Hunt scales the outside of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai. Cruise performed the stunt HIMSELF, without the use of a stunt double. The Burj Khalifa tower is the tallest building in the world, at 2716.5 feet, more than 160 stories. This movie, as many in the spy/thriller genre are, is heavy on action, light on deep thought, and somewhat predictable. But it also made $693 million at the box office worldwide, so "Mr. Boring and Demented" must be doing something right. For the dedication Cruise exhibits to his craft, and just plain b*lls, (and also the hotness of Paula Patton - rrRROWWRR!!), I give this flick FIVE STARS.
We enjoyed sitting down with pizza and beer on a Sat night to watch this movie. The scenes of that building in Dubai are incredible!
The franchise maintains its high production values and it is good SOLID entertainment of this genre even if some of it looks a bit familiar by now.
Superb in every way to the action film genre! I still like MI:2 but I do believe this one soars above it. Suspense-filled from start to finish! GREAT!
