I felt that this was the most interesting of the books in this series. It was a lot more focused on the relationships between characters than the first book and the characters had such interesting personalities. I loved this book and was so into it, I was frustrated when it ended and I had to wait a week for the next book in the series.

I looooooved this book. I read it on a train trip, and was sad when the book (and the train ride) had to end! In my opinion it's better than the first book in the series (Finnikin of the Rock, which is also pretty great!), but it would probably still be a good idea to read that one first, just so you go in already having a little bit of an emotional connection to these characters.

Although not quite as engaging as the first Lumatere book, Finnikin of the Rock, Froi of the Exiles returned me to a world that I started to love. It also explored some very complex, nuanced characters, which are refreshing to see in the usually black-and-white fantasy genre.
