Summary
Add a SummaryIn search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky— taken by the Society to his certain death—only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake. Cassia’s quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander—who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia’s heart—change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.
Seventeen-year-old Cassia sacrifices everything and heads to the Outer Provinces in search of Ky, where she is confronted with shocking revelations about Society and the promise of rebellion.
At the end of Matched, Cassie has discovered that her match with Ky was planned, but does not know by whom. They were purposely put together and watched. Her actions were all predicted ahead of time, and she has fulfilled all that they predicted she would do, including placing Ky in the category for advancement. They knew she was aware that he was smarter than he let on and that human emotions played a part in her decision. We also saw that Xander was not all we had thought, in that he had been jealous of Ky for a while, but would do anything for the love of his life, Cassie. When Cassie told him about Ky's picture on her card, he stated the obvious, "I was there too, Cassie. You only chose to see him". Xander is definitely more than he appears, I dont know if I want her to chose Ky or Xander.

Add a Commentgood read, drags out in the middle, the author needed to make the middle more grabbing to keep the reader interested. but the end was good makes me want to find out what happens next.
I thought the book was okay. But frankly, I considered the first book better. I liked how the story was told from both Cassia and Ky's P.O.V. and how we learn more about Ky's story but this book had so much love in it. At some parts it's cute, but overall it's a bit much. It's still a very good book, but I still prefer Matched.
This book wasn't as good as the first in the series - Matched. It is still a very good book and a fun read. I really liked how we get to know more of Ky's character, and how he and Cassia find each other against all odds.
They introduce new characters as Cassia gets more interested about the rising (and poems) and becomes lost in the Outer provinces
This book was alright. I still liked it a lot, but it was nowhere near as good as the first book. I expected it to be so much better.
kinda boring. it seems to go nowhere. not near as good as the first book. i may try and read the third book though since its the last and see if its better
I agree with others that the writing was a bit flat, and even where there was action, it never had any sense of urgency. Also, there was way too much pseudo-intellectual pondering about the meaning of love and life, all which went on for pages and just fell flat (and all this pondering also detracted from any sense of urgency. IMO, the biggest weakeness is that the narration switched between Cassie and Ky, but they sounded so similar that I sometimes had to flip back to the beginning of a chapter to figure out who was narrating at that point. Two characters should have different voices, so this was a big disappointment. But despite these limitations, I still found it to be a quick read, and I did enjoy it.
Good, book but I enjoyed matched a lot more. Kind of dissapointed
Great book. I enjoyed Matched better but still worth reading. I was totally a Ky fan from the get go but I think I may turn to the Xander side in this next book. We shall see...
I loved this book!!!! I liked Matched better but this was still a great sequel. I really liked how the whole book didn't focus on Cassia and Ky's relationship, so we got to learn about them as individuals. I also really liked the new characters especially Eli. I can't believe what is revealed! I can't wait until the next book comes out! It should be extremely interesting.
