Add a CommentWithout Hemmingway's writing, this movie just lays out the bare plot, which is pretty much unrelieved self-absorption on the part of the characters.
Our poor grandparents had to watch these kinds of movies?! no wonder their lives were so short...the whole movie you hear sound of blasting bombs as well as constant moving away from one's lover...damn war mongers!...and this female actress looks so much like a snapping turtle!
C+ movie
I didn't particularly feel like reading any of Ernest Hemingway's books, so I decided to watch the movie versions. I am glad I only wasted a couple of hours watching this movie and not who knows how many weeks reading the book. It is full of people who make bad choices and keep lovers apart. If you like stories about the human condition, you might enjoy this depressing look at life.
