I feel about this book the same way I felt about Behemoth -- it's exciting, but the first book was better. Somehow, the action just seems less...fresh, less exciting, than it did back in Leviathan. The resolution of the romance also seemed a bit hurried to me. But, still worth reading!

DON'T READ THE DESCRIPTIONS, SPOILERS. Loved the series and loved this book. Love the plot still and characters are still very expresive and strong. The only thing I was sad about was that it didn't last longer. This series will be one I will be rereading soon.

A perfect conclusion to my new favorite series! I couldn't have hoped for a better finale. I can't remember ever being more satisfied with the conclusion of any series I've read.

Final book in the Leviathan trilogy. This steam-punk world is fairly well thought out, and makes for a great young adult novel, full of derring doo, adventure, tricks, secrets, historical figures, swashbuckling, and touring the world on the underside of a giant floating whale. Now if only I could get my son interested in it.

Wow. Talk about spoilers in the description.......

Wow! Very rarely do I find a concluding book of a series good. This was definitely one! All 3 of these books were enthralling and exciting from the first to last page. I really loved it. The plot, characters and ingenious devices are all so amazing! Can't wait to read more of Scott Westerfeld :D

In this last installment of the trilogy, Alek and Deryn are sent to collect none other than Nicola Tesla himself, who claims to have developed a superweapon capable of leveling cities. Will the threat of its deployment be enough to stop the war? Maybe, but not before Deryn's carefully guarded secret is revealed!

Alek and Deryn are aboard the Leviathan when the ship is ordered to pickup an unusual passenger. This brilliant/maniacal inventor claims to have a weapon called Goliath that can end the war. But whose side is he really on? While on their top-secret mission, Alek finally discovers Deryn's deeply kept secret. Two, actually. Not only is Deryn a girl disguised as a guy.. she has feelings for Alek. The crown, true love with a commoner, and the destruction of a great city all hang on Alek's next -- and final -- move

Bovril sat on his [Master Klopp's] shoulder, memorizing new German obscenities with glee.

Alek: What do you see? Deryn: Only the four largest riggers coming up on the ratlines to rescue you us. It must be barking nice to be a prince.

Alek: Y-you're a girl! Deryn: What? You've known that for a whole barking week! Alek: Yes, but I-I can see it now.

Alek: Did you just... Deryn: Aye. I did. Alek: I-I certainly am awake now. Deryn: So it works on sleeping princes too?

He's a scientist. They like rocks.
