A very intense and sad read. But also a reminder that even with abuse and terrible things that come into every individuals life there can be a good outcome if you make one. I really enjoyed the author's reflections of recent understand. My favorite is of the acorn within the first couple of chapters. This is a haunting true story, don't read it if you aren't prepared.

Read this in one sitting as many others have. This book was dark and depressing to begin with and i felt that I had to continue to find some happiness throughout.

This is a book I will never forget. Very haunting and sometimes very difficult to read. It's not well written but that didn't seem to matter much. Jaycee's captors are very sick and evil people.

Heartwrenching novel that tells of immense courage to survive from a young woman. Extremely difficult to read. I'm glad I finished the book because it shows that there are more good than bad in the world.

Extremely disturbing. Graphic. What she endured is absolutely horrifying and just plain evil. Sad story with a happy ending.

A really good read by a young woman who has never written. Compelling and sad, I could not put the book down...finished in 5 hours.
