Add a CommentThis is the best series...kind of a space western comedy.
The complete series of Firefly consists of fourteen episodes some of which never aired on TV. The storylines and characters are pretty good but the mix of furturistic science fiction with the old American west just doesn't make any sense. As another commentator noted fans of Star Trek and other excellent science fiction series will be disappointed with Firefly.
If you are a fan of sci fi, or Joss Whedon then you must see this show. I watch it once a year - minimum!
It's sad that this show didn't get a chance to find its audience.Until I happened to come across the movie Serenity,I had never even heard of Firefly.I LOVE THIS SHOW! FOX really blew it with this one.To think they kept X-Files going at least three seasons too long, and they wouldn't even give this show a full season, never mind two.Absolutely tragic!
This here was a gorram shiny shindig. That's all I have to say.
BRING BACK FIREFLY!!!!! This T.V series literally changed my view on sci-fi and other types of T.V shows. River Tam and Captain Reynolds (Summer Glau and Nathan Fillion) are my favourite characters and amazing on screen!!! - as well as the rest of the crew. Firefly ftw and Joss Whedon :D
Best show ever on TV. Imagination, heart -- and the dialogue! The words just sparkle. It is amazing.
I finally got around to watching this - after years of being battered about it by friends. It really is great, despite my inherent dislike of Nathan Fillion (it's unjustifiable, I can't explain why I don't like him, I just do. Same with Pierce Brosnan). But I love the merging of the sci-fi and Western genres (even if in some cases it doesn't make sense) for this space opera style show. Joss Whedon is a gem, and for some reason, networks keep cancelling his shows. Hard sci-fi nerds will have to let go of their requirement that everything is high-tech, but hopefully they can have an appreciation for the stylistic approach of merging these two genres, and how well Whedon found commonality between what would seemingly be opposites.
A great show with an enticing plot and interesting premise. I love this series. There is a nice cast of characters - all with different pasts and different motives, all able to endear any viewer. Furthermore, each episode had an intense plot that would keep all interested. It's a great series with great actors - all who who have wonderful chemistry with each other. Anyone interested in a thoughtful story with awesome characters would definitely love this show. Definitely would recommend it.
This show had some heart. But it tried to combine futuristic sci fi with literally the American West circa 1885 including the holsters, 6 irons and galloping horses. No Star Trek, Battlesip Galactica, Stars Wars fan is going to buy this premise. It is a shoot'm up for guys who love Westerns with a very thin patina of sci fi and even includes a madam as one of the stars just like Gunsmoke. Luckily those good actors were able to get other gigs.
