A book for single, food-loving cooks, with 100 recipes that deliver flavorful, globally inspired, and unfussy meals, all scaled to serve one.

As the Cooking for One columnist for the Washington Post and the head of a single household, Joe Yonan knows a thing or two about the takeout doldrums and the challenges of creating practical “serves 1” dinners that meet the standards of the avid and engaged eater. Recipes include inventive dishes such as Pan-Grilled Chicken with Charred Lemon Slices, Spicy Almond Noodles with Edamame, Five-Spiced Duck Tacos with Plum Sauce, and Pain Perdu with Rum-Buttered Bananas, all of which are a snap to make and immensely satisfying to eat.

I found this to be a very pleasing and accessible cookbook – and I fear cookbooks, so that’s saying something. Witty and engaging, with recipes that are easy to follow – more than anything else I really appreciate the thought that goes into how to plan for your leftovers to become something completely different.
