Absolutely lovely. This author is usually too scary for me - not this time.

Love it, love it, love it!
And the movie too, though they are both so different.

Some great writing in the book, but the pacing threw me off--particularly around the time Tristan meets the hairy stranger. There were a lot of elements that I really enjoyed about the book, but I never felt sucked in or got to the point where I forgot I was reading.

I think both the book and the movie are magical. There are subtle differences between the two. I like that it's simply magical or magically simple. I loved both.

I really enjoyed it, but it didn't really have a climax which was odd. I would have thought that would bother me more than it did.

It sounds bad, but the movie is sooo much better. While it's not horrible, the book just seemed "hollow", like Gaiman was more concerned over trying to tell a dull fairytale instead of showing it to the reader. I usually love stories that read like traditional fairytales, this one just did not work. The characters are never developed, the plot is unfocused and the love story is disappointing. Watch the movie instead.

I had watched the movie when I hadn't even heard of the story and so I read the book. I was not disappointed. It is a really lovely story and full of magic. I highly recommend it.

A sweet fable, although being used to reading fantasy with long descriptions, the lack of detail about the trip was a bit disappointing. Still, I recommend it to fantasy fans for it's wonderful writing, and lessons.

Fun twist on a traditional fairytale fantasy story with added bits of sex and gore and snark. Quite different from the movie. It kind of peters out at the end. No big battles or confrontations; it's more a story about heart-- metaphorically and literally.

"They have said that the Lilim were dead before now, but they have always lied. The squirrel has not yet found the acorn that will grow into the oak that will be cut to form the cradle of the babe who will grow to slay me."
