My favorite of the three Iron Man films. The emotional content became better, the villains a little more fun, the weaponry pumped up, cool machine tinkering, Black Widow delivering some of the best fight choreography in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a better idea of who Phil Coulson is, and a great revelation for Tony of his father, Some complain that Iron Man 2 doesn't feel like a story worthy of being shown in a movie. I strongly disagree. But from the viewpoint that this is nothing more than a sidestory, it is an entertaining and touching one.

A second go around for RDJ as Iron Man does not disappoint. Downey owns the character of Tony Stark, inhabiting him once more as the hyperactive man on the edge with a motormouth. Don Cheadle is a very welcome replacement as Colonel Rhodes after the underwhelming Terrence Howard played the role in the first film. Scarlett Johansson makes her debut here as the dangerous Black Widow. Sam Rockwell is appropriately sleazy as Justin Hammer, a business rival to Stark. The only casting misfire, I think, is Mickey Rourke as a Russian with a grudge. The man has done so much damage to himself down through the years in real life that he seems brain damaged, mumbling his way through the film. All in all though, director Jon Favreau does well with this second outing, moving the story along, and keeping the audience engaged.

Sequels can be disappointing, but not the case here (in my opinion). Great cast. Robert Downey Jr. shines as the intelligent, charming, egotistical, billionaire superhero. Mickey Rourke is always on his game in the tough guy role. Supporting cast was very good. Great action, great humor, great special effects. FIVE STARS.

Not as good as the first Iron Man film, but it's still a good movie.

First one was a lot better, but I still liked this one. I'm extremely jealous of Stark's home :P

Senator Stern: My priority is to get the Iron Man weapon turned over to the people of the United States of America. Tony Stark: Well, you can forget it. I am Iron Man. The suit and I are one. To turn over the Iron Man suit would be to turn over myself, which is tantamount to indentured servitude or prostitution, depending on what state you're in. You can't have it. Senator Stern: Look, I'm no expert... Tony Stark: In prostitution? You're a senator. Come on.
