Opinion

From Library Staff

The title says it all. Think pigs on parade would be adorable and delightful? Think again. Professional comedian Black and illustrator Kevin Hawkes set the record straight on just how inclined pigs are to perform on cue.

fun to read.

Sure a pig parade sounds great,
but before you plan one, think it through! Eye-filling illustrations
warn you of the shenanigans that can occur.

Music, choreography, and balloon holding are several areas that pigs would fight hoof over snout to neglect so they may do their own piggy-thing, meaning that a highly organized event like a parade would very quickly turn into a complete and utter disaster. In the following passage, Mr. Black focuses on pig costuming, offering a sobering and logical explanation without any sugar-coating whatsoever.

The contrast between the imagined pig parade and the realistic pigs is a startling realization to the fact that picture book animals are not true to form.

This book was kind of funny. I don't know if it would funny if you were reading to kids but they might find it funny if they were reading to themselves. The illustrations are also really good and kinda gross :) just like pigs
