To be frank, I was divided on this when it was released. As someone who tends to shy away from overly hyped movie spectacles, and especially with an overabundance of CGI effects, my opinion changed completely upon my second viewing of this monumental movie. Has a strong moralistic story, and is a visual fest of awe and wonder, AVATAR, will in fact leave the viewer breathless, and amazed.

AWESOME movie . Truly amazing special effects . And a very powerful message ---- Man can make a mess of nearly everything that they put their hands on for GREED !! BUT, there are still those that have a heart and a conscience . Thank goodness for that !!
Am hoping to see a Sequel !!

I just feel like people are making negative comments about this movie cause it got so famous. Well its got all the reasons to be such a hype. Loved it. :D

It sucks, well compared to Pacific Rim.

This movie is good but overhyped. I'm glad I waited to watch it for free

When I first saw this film, my reaction wasn't, "Hey! It's The Thin Red Line with eight foot blue cat people!", No, my reaction was, "Hey! It's Dances with Wolves with eight foot blue cat people!". People have got to wake up to the fact that the only impressive aspect of this film is the visuals, which at times are pretty breathtaking. I wouldn't even be ptting in my own two cents if it weren't for the fact that everyone is STILL talking about this movie! It's been nearly 4 years since it's been released! Yet so many people are still defending it as a good movie, but it's not, it LOOKS like a good movie, but it's simply hiding behind it's amazing visuals to desguise it's weak and underdeveloped plot, it's one dimesnional characters, it's uninteresting message which has gotten very, very, old very, very, fast. Isn't James Cameron supposed to be the genius that brought us the 'Terminator' movies? Why does he continue to give us visually stimulating movies with transparent stories? Three more of these films are being made and who knows? Maybe they'll be great! But from what I've seen, we're all, myself including, clinging too the past and not focusing enough on the future.

(Stargladiator, since you so kindly addressed me, here are my 2 cents: I suggest you start educating yourself. For starters, get William Shirer’s book on WWII.) An anti-military, anti-American movie by big-time leftie (i.e., progressive) James Cameron. What else can I say? (PS: Who doesn’t want peace? There is a cost, though, because it doesn’t come for free. The fool Neville Chamberlain came back to England from Nazi (as in “socialist”) Germany bragging about peace, bringing an “agreement” that actually handed Czechoslovakia to the Nazi; instead of reading the facts correctly, he exposed his fellow citizens and the whole world to years of suffering and death. General George Patton was right: “Perpetual peace is a futile dream.” And not because we don’t yearn for it, but because evil people will do everything they can to end it!)

(Hey, StarGladiator, what about the movie? Did you watch it?) Some patrons who wrote comments summarized this movie very well. A couple called it “Dances with Smurfs.” I agree that it had a poor story line, was highly overrated and was predictable, was anti-military and anti-American. Some defined the movie so accurately I have to quote them: “"Titanic in space with blue people,” and “a rip off of Pocahontas with over the top visuals that make your head spin.” And, yes, this is “the most ethnocentric, insulting film I've seen in a long time” and the blue guys “aren't aboriginals they are a bunch of angry blue hippie aliens,”! :-)

(To stargladiator: I’m not sure what Vietnam has to do with this movie, but, yes, many Vietnamese citizens, men, women and children, were killed by the communists; it’s called democide! And let’s not forget Vietnamese gulags! For more details on the commies’ genocide all over the world: www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/COM.TAB1.GIF. (And why do people who clearly despise the US still live here?) Before you watch this overrated piece of leftwing propaganda, I highly recommend you read Debbie Schlussel’s review: http://www.debbieschlussel.com/13898/dont-believe-the-hype-avatar-stinks-long-boring-unoriginal-uber-left/. Avatar is not only anti-American, it is anti-Capitalism too—not surprising, since 10 out of 10 film makers (and every single person involved in making movies) are lefties who revere Gaya and blame Americans for all the evils in the world—no matter who originated them! Interestingly, these Che-lovers have no problem whatsoever benefiting from the exact economic system they systematically attack: Capitalism!

(StarGladiator: making enemies all over the galaxy, ha, ha, ha!) I wish I had read Nile Gardner’s article about this movie before I got it from the local library… (http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/nilegardiner/100020721/avatar-the-most-expensive-piece-of-anti-american-propaganda-ever-made/) People can deny all day long, but the fact is, as Gardner wrote, that Avatar is “one of the most left-wing films in the history of modern American cinema“! I wish I had known that David Cameron himself was such a blatant left-winger. His movie abounded with anti-war, anti-American and anti-Capitalism stereotyped representations! That some don’t want to see them, doesn’t mean they aren’t all there! So, if you hate (= envy) America, this is the movie for you.

By 2148, humans have severely depleted Earth's natural resources. In 2154, the RDA Corporation mines for a valuable mineral—unobtanium—on Pandora, a densely forested habitable moon of the gas giant Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri star system.[10] Pandora, whose atmosphere is poisonous to humans, is inhabited by the Na'vi, 10-foot (3.0 m)-tall, blue-skinned, sapient humanoids[33] who live in harmony with nature and worship a mother goddess called Eywa.

"Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say, 'What should be the reward of such sacrifices?' ... If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom...crouch down and lick the hands, which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!" Samuel Adams distinguishing between pro- and anti-Americans.
