Add a CommentThis is one of the greatest breakup CDs I've ever heard. That being said, it's pretty depressing. It is about breaking up, after all. This album equates a relationship's dissolution with the dissolution of society -- the "End Times" of the title aren't just referencing the relationship, but the entire world. The songs range from an opening about how happy the couple was "in the beginning," to the singer comparing his ex to a suicide bomber on her way to paradise. Hyperbolic, sure, but entertaining. This isn't as great as some of Eels' other work. If you like this band, definitely look into "Electro-Shock Blues," which is their most critically-acclaimed (and I would say best) album.
