Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud from the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life. The unusual aspect of his life is that he is ages backwards, being born an old man. He is diagnosed with several aged diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival. He does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by Thomas Button, his biological father, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth. Benjamin was raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home. Daisy's grandmother was a resident, which is where she first met Benjamin. Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remain in contact throughout their lives, reconnecting in their forties when in age they finally match up. Some of the revelations in Benjamin's diary are difficult for Caroline to read.

In this movie Benjamin Button is born with a rare disease of being born old and growing young. Interesting concept as Ben lives his life, basically, backwards. Good performances by all.

Add a CommentThrough the story of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” F. Scott Fitzgerald explores many themes of life such as life-long love, impossible love, parenting, being a child, etc. Through magical realism, Fitzgerald’s story is able to explore all of these themes in much greater depth than through a straight story. Half way through the film, I thought it was the first time Cate Blanchette was in the film when she was playing a twenties-something dancer, but I did not even see that she had been in the film since the beginning of the film. I suppose that this is one of those cases where a person puts too much emphasis on age. One does not realize that an older person is really composed of all those ages he/she was before that. This is so much more than the story of a clock that works backwards.
very good
I really enjoyed this film. It is the story of a man who ages backwards. He is born an infant of 70 some years and slowly "ages" into an infant. I thought Brad Pitt did a great job for the many stages of life he had to play. I was surprised to find out that this was a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald so I have now downloaded it to my kindle to read soon.
I am by no means a fan of Brad Pitt, but he deserves credit for an exceptional performance here. Cate Blanchett as well. Great special effects - terrific story.
I tried to get into it but I couldn't. I normally love Brad Pitt but I found his acting very unappealing in this movie.
I prefer the beginning of the film when Benjamin in living his life, rather than the end when he is contemplating it. All in all, “The curious case of Benjamin Button” is an excellently written and well-casted movie. I recommend watching it.
awesome movie.must see movie.
This film was very wonderful. I was captivated by the entire film from the beginning to the end. It always makes me cry at the end when Benjamin narrates the final scenes at the end of the film.
awesome movie!!! it was amazing to see them at different ages and decades. really true to history. it is a bit weird that he ages backwards, but once you can kind of accept that fact, it's amazing!!
Movie about reverse aging. Fairly entertaining.
