A new trade paperback edition of the graphic novel that inspired the hit movie!
A powerful story about loss of freedom and individuality, V FOR VENDETTA takes place in a totalitarian England following a devastating war that changed the face of the planet.
In a world without political freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything comes a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask who fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts. It's a gripping tale of the blurred lines between ideological good and evil.
This new trade paperbackedition features the improved production values and coloring from the 2005 hardcover.
Baker & Taylor
In a futuristic Britain where a totalitarian regime rules, a young woman is rescued from death by a masked vigilante calling himself "V," who launches a one-man crusade against government tyranny and oppression.

We’ve had a string of embezzlers, frauds liars and lunatics making a string of catastrophic decisions. This is a plain fact. But who elected them? It was you! You who appointed these people! You who gave them the power to make your decisions for you! While I can admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making the same lethal errors century seems to me nothing short of deliberate. You have encouraged these malicious incompetents, who have made your working life a shambles You have accepted without question their senseless orders. You have allowed them to fill your workspace with dangerous and unproven machines You could have stopped them All you had say was “NO.” You have no spine. You have no pride. You are no longer an asset to the company.
Also, please don’t think I’ve forgotten about your outstanding service record, or about all of the invaluable contributions that you’ve made to the company… fire, the wheel, agriculture… It’s an impressive list, old-timer. A jolly impressive list. Don’t get me wrong. But… well, to be frank, we’ve had our problems, too. There’s no getting away from it. Do you know what I think a lot of it stems from? I’ll tell you… It’s your basic unwillingness to get on within the company. You don’t seem to want to face up to any real responsibility or to be your own boss. Lord knows you’ve been given plenty opportunities… We’ve offered you promotion time and time again, and each time you’ve turned us down. “I couldn’t handle the work Gov’nor’ you wheedled. “I know my place.” To be frank, your not trying are you?
Good evening London. I thought it time we had a little talk. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin… I suppose you’re wondering why I’ve called you here this evening. Well, you see, I’m not entirely satisfied with your performance lately… I’m afraid your work’s been slipping, and… and, well, I’m afraid we’ve been thinking about letting you go. Oh, I know, I know. You’ve been with the company a long time now. Almost… let me see. Almost Ten Thousand years! My word, doesn’t time fly?

Its genius cuts through like a lighthouse—often a confusing fog and then, there it is, brilliance. Given all the praise heaped on V for Vendetta, I was not impressed at first. I had to let the story age in my mind a while before I started to respect it, and this goes as much for its art as well as the message. Referencing Moore's other great work, I'm still partial to Watchmen over V, but just by a little. Both illustrate a dark side of humanity that I dare to hope is a product of its time. The optimist in me wants to believe that our world outlook has improved since then.
Yet another project by the acclaimed Alan Moore that is worth investigating. I wish I had known that the movie was based on this graphic novel, I would have skipped it and just read this. At first I wasn't very happy with the art in the story, but the writing and ideas are good enough that it doesn't really matter too much. Recommended for fans of Alan Moore, or dystopian fiction.
Excellent graphic novel. The print version makes a good add-on to the movie.
V is a kidnapper who bullies his teenage captive until her Stockholm syndrome kicks in and she shaves her head. Oh, and V is the hero. Or anti-hero. Whatever.
Sheer brilliance. Moore does it again. I personally liked this one more than Watchmen. Disturbingly realsitic, the fantasy boarders along the thin line of reality. It tampers into our moral beliefs as a nation and truely sets the tone for what needs to be done. Beautifully transitioned from the minds of Moore and Lloyd to paper with fantastic artwork and flawless storytelling that really conveys the much needed emotion to carry forth the story all the way to it's surprising finale! Great deliverly.
On of the few Graphic Novels where the movie does the original justice. Great dystopian story.
This graphic novel cannot receive enough praise. Beautifully illustrated, well written, with a fantastic message. A must read!
Pure brilliance. A convoluted tale that keeps you guessing, and a finale that exceeds expectations. The fact that the call number is 'MOO' is just an added bonus :).
A gripping, fascinating tale with a frighteningly relevant message. An unforgettable read.
One of my all-time favourite graphic novels. Beautifully written and illustrated.
