Chloe Saunders can see dead people but all she wants is a normal life. When she is abruptly sent to Lyle House, a group home for distressed teens, she is falsely diagnosed with schizophrenia. Strange mysterious things begin to occur and Chloe attains life changing information about herself, her new friends and the group home she was sent to. “The Summoning” is full of intrigue and only gets better and more suspenseful throughout the trilogy. It’s one of those books you can’t stop thinking about, even after reading. There are a few cheesy awkward moments but there are in most books, I’m just not into the whole werewolf thing. I like them in some cases and don’t mind them in others. It definitely depends on how the author portrays them. The whole image of “changing” and turning into a werewolf (imitating the Hulk), then turning back into a human and being completely naked (and sweaty,); while having an audience, doesn’t appeal to me. Some parts are fairly predictable. The minute the other characters are introduced you can tell who she’ll be with. Even if you aren’t necessarily expecting certain things, nothing really comes as a major surprise. The title of the book basically refers to Chloe’s supernatural ability. I’m attempting to keep this review spoiler free so, I won’t say anything else. Although, it could also be indicating to how Chloe and the other residents in the group home were summoned to that particular place. It may be a bit slow at first but if you keep going it gets better. The next 2 books in the trilogy have a lot more action, adventure, suspense and romance.

Following the worst five beginning chapters I ever read, a thrilling mystery unraveled. I'm glad I pressed on through the beginning. The ending was a little more like the end of an episode than the end of a novel, but I really got attached to the characters and am excited to see what's going to happen.

Best book ever!!! I love Chloe and Derek!!!!!!

Awesome read! I love Chloe and Derek they are awesome!!

I loved this book. My favorite series of all time! The characters are very different and interesting, as well as the story. If you are a ''vampire lover'', well, i'm warning you: there are absolutely no vampires in this book.

Just finished reading this and it was hard to put down. Took me two days and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. It has a different take on the 'I see dead people' story lines in other books. I really like the characters - especially Chloe and Derek. Great plot and twists.

Chloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for disturbed teens. At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems…? Chloe realizes that if she doesn’t uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse…? Can she trust her fellow students, and does she dare reveal her dark secret?

Chloe Saunders is your average teenage girl. She lives in Buffalo, with her aunt and attends an art school. She spends time with her friends, talks to boys, that kind of thing. Then she meets a ghost. This ghost is terrifying and grotesque. The interaction sends her into a breakdown, which gets her sent to a group home, Lyle House. Lyle House is for mentally-ill teens who must work through their problems, or at least that is what it is advertised to be. Bizarre situations are occurring at this house, not only with herself, but also with other residents of the house. And no matter how much she tries not to believe it, Chloe sees more ghosts. Through strange events, the secrets everyone is hiding spills out, connections are made, and soon nothing is as it was thought to be. But with secrets.... there are always people who want to keep them quiet.
