Item Details

As imminent conflict brews between the powerful Trade Federation and the peaceful planet of Naboo, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi travel to Naboo to warn the Queen of the galactic fallout which is to follow. Eventually, Naboo is invaded forcing the Jedis to evacuate the planet with the Queen and her court. The fact that this film inspired Weird Al Yankovic's parody song "The Saga Begins" is enough to warrant it as an acceptable introduction to the Star Wars "franchise."

What are you guys talking about?! Jar Jar is awesome. He provides comic relief to the story and is the coolest ever. I love Qui-Gon as well. He is a really cool Jedi. He's kind of the dignified rebel in the Jedi Order. Probablly embarrasses Obi-Wan a lot, But awesome. I'd give the movie Four stars.

Very good movie. Probably one of the best in the whole saga. Number one would probably be Revenge of the Sith and Phantome Menace would be number two. Great story, visuals and sounds!

I've heard many negative reponses and a few positive responses about this movie and it's characters. But i love sound and visuals, so i'll deal with that. I'm proud to say that this film looks and sounds fantastic with THX on your HOMETHEATER!!!! One of my favorite scenes for audio is the pod race. I was blown away by the sounds of the roaring engines at the starting line. My subwoofers imitated the power in those vehicles as they started their engines and took off. The visuals were also stunning as they traveled along their course. I also liked the way "Darth Maul" looked as the bad guy with his double ended light saber. That was a nice touch. My friend said his death was a little corny, but what are you going to do. My friend liked the huge battle scene between Jar-Jar's buddies and the robots. She liked the way they looked and the way some of the weapons sound. I agree! I'm giving this movie 4 stars. Excellent sound, great visuals, totally cool villians, and a good story. Jimmy Dean sausages, several slices of whole wheat bread, and grape jelly. Vanilla almond ice cream in blender.

Jar Jar Binks is the coolest person ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are you talking about?

Jar Jar must die... Jar Jar is awful.. Jar Jar must die slowly and painfully, cut into thousands of pieces, and fed to a Bantha.

PART OF A MARATHON, ONE AFTERNOON VIEWING The starting 20 minutes of this is so dense in its provision of information and background, coupled with explosions and action, that it could easily be provided in a movie of its own. I had to re-start the film in order to catch material not understood (although I was stuffing envelopes at the time). The characters could have used more humanity, and the creatures could have used it as well. There's so much on display for the sake of "lookey and see what we can do digitally!" A fair start, with promise.

Parts of the movie weren't watchable because the disk was in bad shape. The special features disk wouldn't even load. :( We've notified the library, hopefully they'll take it out of circulation.

Mr Plinkett's Review

Absolutely a must-watch. He goes into so much detail and makes a couple really amazing points towards the end. If you're like me you'll find yourself watching and re-watching these reviews. I should probably mention that Mr Plinkett is a nasty old man who uses the occasional curse word. He's also a bit of a loon, and a fugitive from the law... Viewer beware!
