One of the few books that can make me laugh out loud. I have read it and all of his other books many times. Now that I think of it, I'm due for my Adams fix. I highly recommend the entire four book trilogy.

Never can recommend this book, the original BBC series, both radio and TV, and anything to do with the late author, enough. Met Douglas Adams many years ago, quite by accident, when the cab he was riding to a radio interview broke down, and I offered the as-yet-stranger a ride to his interview. Just an amazingily naturally witty gentleman and class act all the way! So sad about his death so young.

Hilarious and enjoyable to read. The plots might seem absurd though the notions were well thought out in a concise fashion.

So ridiculous its hilarious, this book is definitely one that I will remember forever and one that I would classify as a classic.

I found the descriptions of Earth very insightful and truth. The characters' names and personalities were funny and the action parts exciting. Excellent classic!

Did any of you realize 42 is Jackie Robinson's baseball number?

This book is absolutely absurd... which is a large part of its charm! Poor Arthur Dent is a near-powerless (or should I say "mostly harmless"?) human who lives in an incredibly absurd, often malign universe and must make his way through its unintelligible vastness as best he can. Which, really, can be said of us all...

It's a good book but you have to come at it with an open mind or it will seem absurd and corny

Finally read this after years of wanting to...unfortunately, I'm slightly disappointed. Granted, it is "cute" and silly, which I can appreciate but sometimes it's a too corny for my liking. A fun, quick read but nothing to go crazy over.

This book is hilarious, but it's a very detailed and intelligent kind of humour. You will either love it or be extremely annoyed. Either way, you should definitely give it a shot. One of my favourites! Adams is AMAZING.

"People of Earth, your attention, please. This is Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace Planning Council. As you will no doubt be aware, the plans for development of the outlying regions of the Galaxy require the building of a hyperspatial express route through your star system. And regrettably, your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you."

“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

Human beings are great adapters, and by lunchtime life in the environs
of Arthur's house had settled into a steady routine. It was Arthur's accepted
role to lie squelching in the mud making occasional demands to see his lawyer,
his mother or a good book

Life, don't talk to me about life!

This book is the worst book I have ever read. If you want a summary of a good book I suggest you read the eragon series or the hunger games. A good book.
