Summary
Add a Summarycouldn't have asked for a better ending. I got everything I wanted. I don't want to summarize the book, I'll leave that to others, but I will say that there are some heartbreakingly beautiful scenes in this book. The characters became more developed and more endearing, especially Jace. His sarcastic wit is certainly present in this book; however, he is no longer hiding behind his carefully constructed facade. His torment over Clary is glaringly obvious from the first chapter. I noticed that another review stated that she wished Clary and Jace hadn't have been as close as they were until they knew the truth about not being related, but I have to disagree. Clary was the only person in the world that made Jace feel like he belonged and she was the only person he belonged to and the fact that she didn't turn away from him when he told her that he loved her probably meant more to him than her waiting until she knew the truth to love him back the same way. He had resigned himself to love her always, no matter what, and I'm glad that he got to know that she had resigned herself to the same fate. Cassandra Clare works magic with this novel. The excitement begins on the first page and doesn't stop until the final sentence. She brings everything full circle for a completely satisfying ending - even though fans would be more than happy to read about these beloved characters forever, I know I will miss them. I look forward to seeing some of the characters from this series in her new series "The Clockwork Angel"

Quotes
Add a Quote“Did you ever think that in a past life Alec was an old woman with ninety cats who was always yelling at the neighbourhood kids to get off her lawn? Because I do,” - Jace
“You said you were going for a walk!? What kind of walk takes six hours?" "A long one?” - Jace and Alec
“Malachi scowled. "I don't remember the Clave inviting you into the Glass City, Magnus Bane." "They didn't," Magnus said. "Your wards are down." "Really?" the Consul's voice dripped sarcasm. "I hadn't noticed." Magnus looked concerned. "That's terrible. Someone should have told you." He glanced at Luke. "Tell him the wards are down.”
“Not everything is about you," Clary said furiously. "Possibly," Jace said, "but you do have to admit that the majority of things are.” - Jace and Clary
“I am a man" he told her, "and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone woman, and bring me something brown.” -Jace and Isabelle
"There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there's a life after that, I'll love you then."

Comment
Add a CommentCity of Glass was beyond amazing! I loved it every step of the way! Cassandra did an incredible job of keeping the plot up because the story never dragged at a single part! The ending with its twists was perfect and I honestly think Cassandra should have ended the series with this book! It was a great finale to the previous novels!
I agree with the comment below mine, this book does grab your attention right away. I really loved this book. I loved the battles. They were really consuming. The characterization of Valentine is really terrific, both the direct and indirect fully round him out. I am so happy that I stumbled upon this series.
This book captivated me from the very first page and kept me fascinated until the last word. I LOVED this series and am sad to see it end.
Loved this book! Should have been the ending to The Mortal Instruments series, though. The last two books are just downhill from here. Cassandra Clare did an OUTSTANDING job wrapping up the whole series with this book, (but there's still two more after this). A great read.
I read the spoilers, so I knew what was coming with this one. I definitely agree with those that wish this was the last book, but I am excited to see how Clare continues to develop the relationships of the existing characters, as well as hopefully introduce some new ones. The villain's demise seemed too rushed in these books. Maybe it was all the travel between the two lands, but I would have loved to see more of Valentine's subplot. What's HIS story? Why did he choose this route? What was his childhood like? There were glimpses of his humanity in Jocelyn's account, but not enough to truly satisfy my craving for some kind of compassion. I like that Simon's story has taken on a life of its own. He's a unique character that deserves to branch out and continue growing, with or without Clary. The author has given him opportunities to make choices, and that's a good sign for a sustainable character... Ultimately, this is another great book in the series. It covers a lot, yet you're left wanting just a bit more at the end...enjoy!
This book is a page turner....I am told that the next few books get better! Is that possible :) Ready to get the other book started!
I had to finish this book asap & I couldn't put it down - but I also wish this was the last book.
this book really wrapped up a lot of points and wow by the end I felt so much more happy and not as empty of the whole story im pretty sure jace would agree ;)....anywho if cassie wanted this story could have just been a trilogy bcuz the way city of glass ends it has closure but of course the universe hates me and so somethings gonna go wrong in the world.. ahh just love how the story takes place in NYC and pretty present time too... I mean ive had my share of dystopia.. im done with reading how depressing our future is gonna be..
A great ending to Valentine's story. I really loved the ending of this book, it was amazing. I feel that one of the plot points that was revealed earlier i the series was drawn out for way too long, but we finally got it resolved and found out the truth in this book.
A lot of death in this book, but I definately think this book was as good as the others, and you will lilke it if you liked the others. Some of the new characters are very interesting, and I look forward to reading the 4th book.
