I remember reading this as a child for school and really liking it. While it's definitely interesting, it didn't hold up to my expectations. The writing style is certainly different (totally reminds me of a movie like Love Actually, where the perspective of the story keeps changing characters) but at times the plot feels kind of corny.

A cut above all other children's mystery stories. Quite rewarding, and full of puzzles. One to read and re-read.

For some reason I missed out on this one when I was young, but I've been aware of it since I first started working as a librarian years ago. More than any other, it's the title I've seen most referenced again and again as a standard for comparison in reviews and blurbs of newer books. In the world of mysteries for young readers, it's the gold standard that all others are measured against. You could almost call it a cliche, saying, "[This new book] is destined to be a classic like The Westing Game," or, "Readers who were tickled by The Westing Game will love [this new book]." Except calling it a cliche would undermine an appreciation for just how deserving Raskin's book is of the praise. It really is the best.

The 3rd & 4th graders read this at the school I work at but it was also recommended to me by some friends. I enjoyed it! You have to be in the mood for it I think though. Clever, funny characters, great dialogue.

This book was awesome! I loved it; it was definitely puzzling with some unexpected surprises in the end. I was also able to "participate" in the Westing Game; and I almost beat Turtle . . . darn. The characters are smart, witty and funny, and keep the book going.

This was really good! I'd never read it when I was younger, and I was in the mood for a good puzzler story so I found this. It's fun! As a (self-dubbed) obsessive/compulsive puzzle solver, it was really entertaining to try and figure out who was doing what and the whole game around it. I love the whole thing, the characters, writing style, everything!
