Sounds like i'm in the minority, but i really liked this film. I thought it took a very unoriginal storyline and gave it an entirely new spin. I have yet to see the English one, and probably won't as this one impressed me so much.

The acting isn't bad, the cinematography isn't bad, even the setup for the story isn't bad, but there's nothing new here. Vampires suck blood, they act like this is a big shock. They can't go out into sunlight, again they act like this is a big shock. We also see these cardboard cut-out bullies that have no motivation but to be jerks and it's boring. Now without giving too much away, I think where this movie ended is where the movie should've began. It's not a terrible movie, or even that bad, but it irritates me when a movie gets a lot of credit for bringing us something that's been done many times before.

Fan of foreign movies, and open minded to budget and new actors but this movies just did not do it for me....
the only scene that stands out is the cat scene, other than that not worth the watch. Vampire film lovers watch
"We are the Night" its foreign and by far the best modern vampire movie i have ever seen.

The landscape cinematography of the winter scenes in Sweden were spectacular, but not enough to overcome what to me seemed a tedious and drawn out story about teenage love and high school bullying all spiced up with vampire bites. Despite the sophistication of this film, I never found myself getting the least involved, even when considering that the vampire overlay could have been intended as symbolic or allegorical or whatever it was attempting to accomplish. I don’t regret giving the film a chance but not one I’d look toward a repeat viewing. I find there’s something really ludicrous about seeing a young girl over and over again with a bloody mouth having just thirsted on someone’s jugular.

I loved the movie and the book. The "let me in" movie closely followed this movie

Best horror movie next to The Shining. Those who don't like it IMHO are plain dense.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It's foundation is really basically a poignant story of two painfully lonely kids who find real, genuine friendship in each other. The vampire stuff, to me, is simply an added secondary twist from the writer. The actors (Eli and Oskar) were terrific. Beautifully directed -- not slow whatsoever, as some have commented. Forget the cheezy English over-dubbing; watch it as it was intended, in Swedish (w/subtitles). The cat scene was hilarious. Good flick (better than the 2010 American remake, "Let Me In".) FIVE STARS.

I don't know why so many people like this movie. I found it far too slow-paced and not to my liking. I also did not like either Oskar or Eli. The acting and special effects were ridiculous. Plus the English voice dubbing was atrocious!

My only suggestion to English only speaking audiences is DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM WITH THE ENGLISH VOICE OVER!! The English voice over acting is so poor I can almost guarantee it will ruin the experience for you. Watch in Swedish with English subtitles!

My favourite foreign film. A love story, a horror, a buddy flick, a parable about bullying ... all that and more. Recommended.
