I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It's foundation is really basically a poignant story of two painfully lonely kids who find real, genuine friendship in each other. The vampire stuff, to me, is simply an added secondary twist from the writer. The actors (Eli and Oskar) were terrific. Beautifully directed -- not slow whatsoever, as some have commented. Forget the cheezy English over-dubbing; watch it as it was intended, in Swedish (w/subtitles). The cat scene was hilarious. Good flick (better than the 2010 American remake, "Let Me In".) FIVE STARS.

I don't know why so many people like this movie. I found it far too slow-paced and not to my liking. I also did not like either Oskar or Eli. The acting and special effects were ridiculous. Plus the English voice dubbing was atrocious!

My only suggestion to English only speaking audiences is DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM WITH THE ENGLISH VOICE OVER!! The English voice over acting is so poor I can almost guarantee it will ruin the experience for you. Watch in Swedish with English subtitles!

My favourite foreign film. A love story, a horror, a buddy flick, a parable about bullying ... all that and more. Recommended.

Fantastic vampire movie set in Sweden. Involves a 12 yr old boy bullied by 3 other older boys and his friendship with a girl his age and her secret. Good and creepy and you'll never guess the ending! WOW!

Harrowing stuff and, much in spite of the adolescent leads, not suitable for younger audiences at all. If you haven't seen this film and you would like a "realistic" view of the gruesome measures, both physical and emotional, a real vampire would need get by in a modern society add this one to your winter time watch list.

Starts out too slowly. Didn't think it was very good.

A bleak view of the realities of being a vampire during winter in Sweden circa 1982. A young boy is befriended by a young female vampire who lives next door. They become friends and begin a relationship of trust and mutual protection. There are some unique and interesting twists on the vampire lore. Not for the weak of heart as this movie is bloody and violent. Not a particularly great film, but for those who like the vampire genre it is worth watching. The dubbing is not good but the director made a point of hiding mouths much of the time so it does not detract from one's attention all that much.

Let The Right One In impressed the hell out of me. Just about every aspect of this film was top-notch. It was definitely not the typical vampire drivel. I'm usually not a fan of child actors, but these ones were not bad at all. If you can tolerate two hours of subtitles, watch this movie. And you do not have to be a horror movie fan to appreciate it. I mean, it helps, but it is not a prerequisite.

I watched this, and the remake and suprisingly they are equally great. Great storyline, well acted, 5 stars all around.
