Gordie: Do you think I'm weird? Chris: Definitely. Gordie: No man, seriously. Am I weird? Chris: Yeah, but so what? Everybody's weird. Share this quote
Gordie: Suck my fat one, you cheap dime store hood.
Vern: Come on you guys. Let's get moving. Teddy: Yeah, by the time we get there, the kid won't even be dead anymore.
Teddy: This is my age! I'm in the prime of my youth, and I'll only be young once! Chris: Yeah, but you're gonna be stupid for the rest of your life.
The Writer: [voiceover] I was 12 going on 13 the first time I saw a dead human being. It happened in the summer of 1959-a long time ago, but only if you measure in terms of years. I was living in a small town in Oregon called Castle Rock. There were only twelve hundred and eighty-one people. But to me, it was the whole world.
I don't shut up, I grow up. And when I look at you, I throw-up!

Add a CommentOne of the best films I have seen in this year. It was entertaining and interesting. Great performances a must see for all. Truly a really great movie worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. Well worth the price of admission to any theater.
Great music, the plot is simple but the life journey of the 4 youths is compelling.
This is one of my all time favorite movies, good script, great acting, and a wonderful cast. I would recommend everyone see this movie at least once.
This is a really great movie. I wasn't that interested in movies from the 1960s until I saw this movie. Another movie that I find really good was The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I read the book first then I watched the movie, didn't want to spoil the book by watching the movie first. It's based in the same time as Stand By Me. Their both such great movies about friendships. I definitely want to watch more movies about friendships from the 1960s. I would really like some recommendations! Thanks if you could help! By the way, I'm not even 14 yet, and I'm interested in these movies, does that make me a bit weird? But I don't think it matters, when movies are good, you just won't care! Thanks!
A total classic about friendship and growing up. The pie eating contest still grosses me out.
My favorite movie ever,a must see for any age,but specialy for teenagers today that don't know nothing about true friendship,I was like 8 or 9 years old when I saw it (I'm 33 now) and this movie can still make me cry!!!
No other film captures friendship, self-discovery, and the journey to maturity better than Stand By Me. All the actors showed so much potential in their younger years by developing such well-rounded characters within such a fantastic story. Based upon a novella by horror master Stephen King, this Rob Reiner-directed film is a coming-of-age classic that almost anyone who was ever a twelve year old boy can empathize with.
i luv this movie
Great movie. Recommended.
