This movie is a symbolic talk of wizards, and the Muggle crowd don't understand it - they take all literally, and the wizards laugh at their stupidity. OK, so this is about the the bungled creation of the God-like figure, who says toward the end that so far he created 5 worlds and finally he realized that the key to the next, perfect creation is to take away the freedom of choice (of men). The machine-like figures that fight Neil and multiply incessantly is the present human crowd; Neil is the New Man, who fights them and finally conquers them by penetrating their system. There have been five civilizations in the past, but it's not taught in school and the dumb crowd thinks the present one is the first and final. Well, it's not the first and not the final. In talk radio in 2008 and 2009 I heard being said that a new, perfect Creation is coming, which is called "Post-Human," "Post-Industrial" and "Post-Modern." And it will be built on s new, perfected working man, which will be peaceful and obedient. This is no joke; in 2003 in the French broadcast of Radio Canada I heard a scientific Sunday program titled: "Les Annees Lumiere" (The Years of Light) about the plans to gradually replace the present individually selfish man with a genetically perfected new one, who will be strong, sleep less and be peaceful. As for the rulers of the new two-tier society, they will have an ageless body, to live practically forever. The present civilization is based on individual selfishness, and we see today where it led us - eternal conflict, never peace. The new, coming one will be based on collectivity, with no nation states, no individual rights, no private property and no family. "Agenda 21" of the UN plans to end city life by the end of this century; the reduced crowd will be relocated into "Habitat" reserves, and they won't be allowed to go out of it. Arthur Koestler also wrote about this plan of the UN, in 1967 in his bk "The Ghost In The Machine." We, the old types of man are the machine-like figures and Neil is the New Man of the future. I don't want to discuss here the Zion part of the movie. But you can see in it a button at the back of the head of those guys - that's the brain chip, which will tame man to be collectivist and not selfish. Symbolism, guys, and hidden meanings!.

Between what The Oracle, The Merovingian, The Architect, and, even, Smith said, I thought that these characters were all a bunch of devious, double-talking charlatans who tried to fill our eager, putty-like brains with a whole lot of pure bunk.

I don't know about you, but I thought that Neo and Trinity made for a pair of lousy on-screen lovers.

Watching these 2 "go-at-it" during the celebrations down in Zion was about as interesting as listening to The Architect go on & on & on with his long-winded spiel concerning the in's & out's (no pun intended) of The Matrix. - or The Counciller's idiot ramblings about "What is control?" - or The Oracle's preposterous bunk.

From my point of view, this film certainly left a whole lot to be desired. I felt cheated and dissatisfied. It was basically a waste of my time.

This is memorable, although it is not as good an effort as the first film.

This film had some nice elements from the first including Trinity beginning the movie and her continued mastery of motor vehicles. The best part of this film for me, besides the continuing philosophical discussions, was the inclusion of Lambert Wilson and Monica Bellucci. They had some of the best lines in the film and Wilson had charisma to spare. They added a nice, jaded element in contrast to the pure love of Neo and Trinity.
Further, The Merovingian pisses; he wouldn't be caught dead "peeing".
The soundtrack was also excellent.
Morpheus was more irritating here than he was in the original.

This movie is very explicit with bad symbols, swear languages, and sexual content, but overall (the plot), it's good. PS: the second disc isn't a part of the movie

A good sci-fi film with plenty of well-orchestrated action, mostly with CGI. If you are really into this kind of things then you should watch it on the big screen. The plot is a bit too complex to follow. If you are a computer geek it helps a little. The depiction of a world we hope we will never become is visually stunning and credible.

This movie demands HOMETHEATER!!! I have all three Matrix movies and enjoyed them all. A treat for audio freaks and the action is off the hook. I watched this one "Reloaded" with my friend and she was screaming her head off during the "Highway scene." She was acting like a little kid pretending to drive the motorcycle around all the cars and trucks heading in the wrong direction. I'm sitting next to her as she pretends to steer the cycle. Watching her move from side to side like she dodging and weaving through traffic on my futon. She was having her own matrix. Ha,ha,ha,ha. I was cracking up. She is a grown mature woman who was caught up in the moment watching this film. And for that i give this action packed movie 5 stars!!!! For making my friend bug out, great action, great sound, and of course the characters are so cool. A large bowl of Beans&Franks sprinkled with sugar and a little milk. Cream soda.
