Add a CommentBased on the novels of Georges Simenon, this is a very enjoyable mystery series featuring Chief Inspector Maigret of the Paris police. Set during the late 1940s/early 1950s, Maigret is a likable detective who uses his wits with the help of his team of detectives, especially his right-hand man, Lapointe, to solve cases, followed by time spent in cafes or bars discussing cases. It's all very French. Filmed in the 1990s, Michael Gambon stars as Maigret. The set features 4 discs and 12 episodes.
Michael Gambon, one of my favorite actors, is wonderful as Maigret. A couple of episodes are a bit weak and I was able to immediately figure the end, otherwise, really worth watching.
