Mervyn Leroy got it right when he filmed Louisa May Alcots Autobiographical account of her childhood. Although the movie had been already done a favorably reviewed with Katherine Hepburn, Mervyn Leroy went ahead a made the movie classic of this great story. He picked a great cast June Allyson, Peter Lawford, Elizabeth Taylor, and Janet Leigh. All the above females play sisters home alone with the mom with their father fighting in the Civil War. So we will follow the family for the first few years starting in 1860. It is a wonderful story, that I wouldn't think of ruining it for you with more plot details. Although three movie versions are in the KCLS catalog, this is my favorite. Please let me know your reaction to the film by leaving your comments here on the KCLS web site.
P.S. KCLS only has one copy and at present 9 patrons are waiting to see it. Please don't be put off by the delay. It is well worth the wait!

Generally follows the story, but Amy was changed to be older than Beth so that Elizabeth Taylor could play Amy. I think that Jo was played quite well.
