Add a CommentIn the summary it is written that Evie is caught in a complicated web of lies, but there is nothing that is complicated. I did not like this book at all
A suspense filled romantic drama/mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. This book kept me on the edge of my seat! It was like an episode of law and order and maybe grey's anatomy (well at least the drama and romance part) combined in a book for teens!
This is a really good book. It is very well written and very gripping. Based on just the title, I knew something was going to happen but I wasn't sure what and I didn't know when. I was very surprised at what all happened and how everything turned out. Like a lot of people, I was pretty annoyed with Evie during the first half of the book. But she did grow up and I really liked her as she started piecing stuff together and she wasn't a naive little girl anymore. It's a very great story showing how one event can change someone and their outlook on life forever. I definitely recommend this book.

What I Saw and How I Lied, is such a fantastic, gripping and thought provoking novel. I couldn't put it down! I really enjoyed Judy Blundell's writing. I could relate to the characters in the novel and understand why they did some of the things. Even though in the beginning, Evie was a little anoyying. She grows through out the book and by the end you get to see the person she becomes. I think Ms.Blundell did a wonderful job of paceing the book, the mystery was great. Overall a wonderful book. A real National Book Award Winner!
It just didn't do it for me. I was expecting some kind of amazing thriller but all I got was a mediocre story. It wasn't very memorable and honestly I'm suprised at how many people ejoyed this book.
Couldn't put it down!
I was a bit annoyed by the protagonist Evie for at least half of the book and didn't like her characterization at all. I kept on reading because I knew (according to the book summary) something was going to happen and there would be a dramatic turn. I was pretty satisfied by the ending and I stopped disliking Evie so much. This is quite a page turner!
an extremely precious novel, well thought about
This won the National Book Award so I was expecting a lot and was so disappointed. This is one of those novels where you can picture the writer typing, as with this passage: "Girls peering into compacts, lying to each other about how pretty the other one looked. Girls in petticoats and stockings, hair brushed 100 strokes, perfume from the bottle they got for Christmas. Girls laughing at nothing. Girls going to a dance." I dunno. Didn't do it for me.
